The Max Milam Library just celebrated its silver anniversary of sterling service to the community. At the July party, Milam staff gave a touching tribute to a silver patron.

Due to an unforeseen maintenance issue, CALS Dee Brown Library’s hours of operation will be Monday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., beginning Monday, August 6. Patron HOLDS will remain on the shelf 10 days instead of the normal 7 days to allow patrons additional time to pick up their items.

Thanks to the speedy work of the technicians at Entergy, power has been restored at both McMath and Fletcher libraries. McMath Library will open at 12:00 p.m. today, Saturday, July 21, while Fletcher Library will open at 1:00 p.m. Both libraries will close at 6:00 p.m.
Both McMath Library and Fletcher Library will be closed Saturday, July 21, due to power outages caused by Friday night’s storms. Entergy predicts power will not be restored until noon Sunday, July 22. CALS anticipates both branches will reopen for regular operating hours Monday, July 23. Patrons should check this website for updates.
Nathan Smith has a Lord of the Rings keepsake on his desk with a picture of Gandalf. That’s fitting, because as CALS Digital Literacy Specialist, Nathan works his own brand of wizardry to teach a variety of software programs to CALS patrons, all offered free of charge.

In June, the Millie Brooks Library celebrated its five-year anniversary as a branch of the Central Arkansas Library System. The library opened on June 1, 2013.
