Full-Time Positions

ASSISTANT MANAGER PATRON SERVICES – Full-time (40/hours/week) public service position at Main Library Patron Services department. Seeking applicants who will assist in providing leadership to staff, troubleshooting and solving problems, and working to set a positive tone with the staff and the public. The ability to navigate and de-escalate challenging situations with patience, composure, and a good attitude is essential. The Assistant Manager will head the Books by Mail program and online library card applications. Experience working with adults, children, teens, and large groups is preferred. Ability to balance a wide array of tasks that range from management, training, scheduling, patron and staff support, as well as day-to-day library operations, is required. Approach to leadership must be collaborative, kind, and team oriented. Familiarity with technology and digital media, ability to provide instructional assistance on devices, and excellent communication and customer services skills required. Familiarity with popular reading and entertainment materials is desirable. Some weekends required. Must be willing to become a notary public. VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR – Full-time (40 hours/week). The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Volunteer Coordinator to administer CALS’s volunteer program. This position is based at the Main Library (100 Rock Street, Little Rock, AR 72201) but will require occasional visits to all CALS locations across our two-county service area. Primary responsibilities include recruiting, training, scheduling, and managing volunteers, as well as collaborating with colleagues to address systemwide volunteer needs. The ideal candidate should be organized, outgoing, and passionate about working with volunteers. This job also involves providing training to library staff who work with volunteers. The schedule includes working Monday-Friday, though occasional work on evenings and weekends may be required for special events. HOUSEKEEPING TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System seeks a full-time (40 hours/week) Housekeeping Technician to perform upkeep and cleaning at CALS facilities.  Essential duties include cleaning restrooms, floors, glass, furniture, emptying trash cans, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, and other duties assigned. Interested applicants must be  able to work Monday – Friday 5:00am-1:30pm some weekend hours required. Some  experience required must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have a positive attitude.  Starting salary $15.00/hour plus excellent benefits such as medical, dental, vision, company paid retirement, life insurance, paid time off, paid parental leave, and holiday pay. Part-Time Positions

LIBRARY CLERK – Part-time 20 hours/week public service position at the Dee Brown Library (6325 Baseline Rd, Little Rock, AR 72209). Seeking energetic, customer service-oriented applicants with exceptional sorting ability, great attention to detail, and communication skills. Essential duties include shelving items, shelf reading, emptying book bins, working the circulation desk, and resolving patron issues. Must be able to stand for long periods, push and pull at least 50 lbs., lift, and squat. Must be able to work Saturdays 9:00am-6:00pm. Spanish language skills preferred and may be eligible for a pay differential. The pay is $15.00 per hour.
