HOUSEKEEPING TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System seeks a full-time 40 hour per week Housekeeping Technician to perform upkeep and cleaning at CALS facilities. Essential duties include cleaning restrooms, floors, glass, furniture, emptying trash cans, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, and other duties as assigned. Some experience required, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have a positive attitude. Must have and maintain a valid AR driver’s license. LIBRARY ASSISTANT – Full-time (40 hours/week) public service position in the Information Services Department at the Main Library of the Central Arkansas Library System. Essential duties include providing patron assistance via our system-wide telephone, chat, and email services, providing reference and technology assistance to patrons, and completing regular training about system-wide services. Staffing the public computer lab will occasionally be required. Additional duties include data entry, document editing, and other duties as assigned. EVENTS COORDINATOR – The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused individual to serve as the primary point of contact for meeting and event space reservations across all CALS campuses. This role manages venue bookings through Communico Reserve, provides guidance on policies and procedures, and coordinates with branch managers, internal departments, and external vendors to ensure smooth event operations. The coordinator also supports CALS-sponsored programming at the Main Library, handling logistics such as setup, volunteer coordination, and safety planning. This position may serve on the Administrative Council and plays a key role in maintaining excellent service and communication between the library and the public. Spanish language skills a plus but not required. ADULT PROGRAMMER — The Central Arkansas Library System is in search of an outgoing, public service oriented professional to lead and coordinate activities for a diverse adult audience at the Main Library in Patron Services. This Adult Programmer position is a 40-hour per week full-time public service position with responsibilities including planning and actively carrying out a variety of activities for adults both inside the library and out in the community, designing printed and digital materials and promotions, using different social media platforms, collaborating with other library staff, and developing partnerships with other community organizations. LIBRARY SAFETY OFFICER – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time (40 hrs. per week) library safety officer at the Main Library. The work schedule will be: Monday-Friday 9:00am – 6:00pm or Tuesday-Saturday 9:00am – 6:00pm. SKILLED RENOVATION TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full time (40 hours/week) skilled renovation technician with painting/carpentry/drywall skills, capable of performing small remodel jobs, to maintain/repair 19 public library facilities. High school diploma or equivalent, valid AR driver’s license with clean driving record, 5 years construction experience, and knowledge of a specialized field or combination of equivalent education and experience. Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 70 lbs., push, pull, and squat. LIBRARY ASSISTANT FLOATER – Part-time public service position, 20 hours per week. Essential duties and responsibilities include assisting patrons on the circulation desk, at self-service kiosks, and throughout the library space as needed, as well as all day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. This position requires the willingness to assist with crowd control during after-school hours, to enforce rules of conduct, and to assist in any other way needed to help library staff maintain order during crowded and busy times. Other duties include shelving library materials, checking materials in and out, answering patron questions, registering patrons for library cards, information searching, and basic computer troubleshooting. Applicants must be available to work some evenings and most Fridays and Saturdays, as well as having reliable transportation. This employee will be assigned to work at different locations on a weekly basis as a substitute wherever assigned throughout the service area. Each week’s location assignments will be different.
