MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time (40 hrs/week) maintenance technician to maintain/repair equipment, physical structures, furnishings, and building systems for public library facilities. High school diploma or equivalent and valid AR driver’s license. Other requirements include must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, push, pull, and squat, and have basic computer skills. SPECIALTY PROGRAMMER(TEACHING GARDEN & GREENHOUSE COORDINATOR) – The Children’s Library & Learning Center (4800 W. 10th St., Little Rock, AR 72204) is seeking a full-time (40 hours/week) Specialty Programmer to lead and maintain our teaching garden, greenhouse, and beekeeping programs. This person will oversee all aspects of garden and greenhouse maintenance as well as promote, manage, and maintain the pollinator habitats on the library grounds. This role involves developing engaging programs, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring the sustainability of the library’s teaching garden initiatives. The ideal candidate will have public service experience, knowledge of gardening and greenhouse management, and a passion for working with a diverse audience. Experience with beekeeping is preferred. The candidate should be outgoing, friendly, team-oriented, and enjoy working with all ages and have a customer service-oriented approach to public safety while working in a diverse and inclusive environment. Experience working with marginalized communities a plus. Essential duties include working closely with library staff to solve challenges throughout the day and help diffuse various situations in a positive, courteous, and professional manner. Additional responsibilities include assisting patrons with information and assisting staff with public safety concerns. Must be able to stand, walk for extended periods of time, work indoors and outdoors. Some computer experience is required and must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Essential duties and responsibilities include assisting patrons on the circulation desk, at self-service kiosks, and throughout the library space as needed, and all day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. This position requires experience with technology, the willingness to enforce rules of conduct, excellent communication, customer service, and attention to detail. Other duties include shelving library materials as well as checking materials in and out, answering patron questions, registering patrons for library cards, information searching, and basic computer troubleshooting. Temporary / Seasonal Positions
THEATER CLERK – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a theater clerk to work at the Ron Robinson Theater on Library Square. The Theater clerk will work up to 20 hours per week as needed at various events at the theater. Essential duties include working in the concession stand selling alcohol and other snacks, setting up and breaking down events, and providing excellent customer service. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, be able to stand for long periods and able to push, pull and lift at least 50lbs. Work schedule mostly evenings and weekends, but can include some days.
