LIBRARY ASSISTANT – Part-time 20 hours per week public service position at Sanders Library. Essential duties and responsibilities include management of large print items and periodicals, assisting patrons on the circulation desk, self-service kiosks, and throughout the library space as needed, as well as all day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. This position requires experience with technology, digital media, excellent communication, and customer service. CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMER – Part-time (20 hours per week) public service position at the Children’s Library and Learning Center. Seeking energetic, youth-focused applicants with experience working with young children, especially in an educational or enrichment setting. Knowledge of early childhood education and children’s literature is desired. Ideal candidates will present interactive early literacy and storytime programs for babies, toddlers, and preschool-aged children and their caregivers on multiple platforms (including virtual) as well as enriching library programs for children of all ages. In addition to programming responsibilities, the candidate must demonstrate excellent customer service to library patrons and perform outreach. Other essential duties include creating displays, information searching and basic computer troubleshooting, and clerical duties as assigned. Working cooperatively with library staff is essential. MATH TUTOR – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a part-time math tutor for our grant funded Count Up tutoring project. The program will assist students in grades K-12 with in-person and virtual math tutoring. In addition to tutoring students, math tutors will assist with training volunteer tutors with the potential for some additional hours for administrative support for qualified candidates. Interested candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, STEM fields, or education and possess strong math skills in multiple math subjects, excellent verbal communication skills, good time management, and excellent computer skills. RIDES TO READS PROGRAM SPECIALIST –Central Arkansas Library System seeks a part-time 20 hour per week Rides to Reads specialist. The Ride to Reads specialist role is to coordinate the Rides to Reads program at CALS. This includes hosting bus pass distributions/ sign ups at CALS library branches and at community events. The specialist is responsible for managing, organizing, and coordinating a wide variety of functions and performing various administrative and technical duties in support of the program. Interested candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication, great attention to detail and problem solving skills, as well as strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task. This position may require occasional nights and weekends, as well as traveling to various CALS locations and to community events. Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field with at least one year of related work experience or equivalent of education and experience. Pay is $18.11 per hour and includes holiday pay. ROCK IT! LAB PROGRAM SPECIALIST – Central Arkansas Library System is looking for someone to temporarily help fill in as a full-time Program Specialist for the Rock It! Lab—an entrepreneur hub aimed at helping under-resourced entrepreneurs with education and resources to develop and succeed in their businesses. This temporary position is planned to last through the end of January 2022. We are looking for someone who is willing to step in and maintain the work that has already been established to run the program. The candidate should have start-up business knowledge, a strong desire to help others, and the ability to visualize and execute ideas quickly. Essential duties include implementing all aspects of the program including but not limited to recruiting entrepreneurs and partners, planning and executing events, collecting and maintaining data, and researching. The Program Specialist will work closely with the Director of Rock It! Lab and assist in the development and implementation of programming in the COX Building. Candidate must be strongly motivated to help entrepreneurs and have superior organizational and project management skills to successfully implement and maintain the project in a short timeframe. Additional qualifications include holding a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related area with at least 3 years of related work experience, or equivalent education and experience.
