ASSISTANT BRANCH MANAGER / ADULT PROGRAMMER — Amy Sanders Library (10200 Johnson Dr., Sherwood, AR 72120) seeks a positive, proactive individual to join our team as Assistant Branch Manager / Adult Programmer. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in leadership, project management, and working with adult learners. Essential duties of this position include (1) assisting the Branch Manager with management functions such as scheduling, supervision, and staff development; (2) modeling excellent communication and customer service skills; (3) performing functions associated with a public library environment such as circulation, guest services, instructional assistance, and administrative reporting; (4) executing all aspects of library activities and events for adults, including program development, marketing and promotion, implementation, and analysis. Candidates must be able to reach, lift, push and pull up to 50lbs, and be able to stand for periods of time. Schedule will include some nights and every other Saturday. Spanish language skills a plus, but not required. IT SPECIALIST – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) IT Specialist. The IT Specialist is responsible for installation, preventative maintenance, and minor repair of all computers and their peripherals and miscellaneous office equipment throughout all of CALS branches. In addition, the position performs on-call computer help desk duties for Library staff and patrons involving computer hardware, applications, and office equipment. It requires the ability to access, input, and retrieve data from the computer; ability to perform light to medium work without assistance; and the ability to communicate effectively. Candidate must also have experience in computer or technology-related services, valid AR driver’s license, and ability to climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds. ADULT PROGRAMMER – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time (40 hrs. per week) Adult Programmer to work weekday hours, with some evenings and Saturdays at the Williams Library (1800 Chester St., Little Rock, AR, 72206). The candidate should be energetic, flexible, and team-oriented with a strong commitment to public service to create and implement programs for adults, while working in a diverse and inclusive environment. Duties for this position include working the public service desk, answering patron questions, and assisting patrons on computers and devices; planning, organizing, and leading in-branch and outreach programs for adults, as well as assisting with after school crowd control. A successful candidate would be able to establish partnerships in the community, lead educational and entertainment programs for adult and older adult audiences, collaborate with other departments and organizations to develop creative and enriching programming for our patrons, and develop positive relationships with staff and patrons. An optimistic attitude and a strong sense of teamwork are required. Experience with adult programming and familiarity with literature and popular media desirable. Seeking energetic, customer service-oriented applicant with exceptional sorting ability, great attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. Essential duties include shelving items, shelf reading, emptying book bins, working the circulation desk, and answering patron questions. Must be able to stand for long periods, push and pull at least 50 lbs., lift, and squat. Working Mondays 4pm-8pm and every Saturday 9am-6pm would be required, with the remaining scheduled hours being negotiable throughout the work week. The pay is $15.00 per hour. LIBRARY ASSISTANT FLOATER – Part-time public service position, 20 hours per week. Essential duties and responsibilities include assisting patrons on the circulation desk, at self-service kiosks, and throughout the library space as needed, as well as all day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. This position requires the willingness to assist with crowd control during after-school hours, to enforce rules of conduct, and to assist in any other way needed to help library staff maintain order during crowded and busy times. Other duties include shelving library materials, checking materials in and out, answering patron questions, registering patrons for library cards, information searching, and basic computer troubleshooting. Applicants must be available to work some evenings and most Fridays and Saturdays, as well as having reliable transportation. Temporary / Seasonal Positions
THEATER CLERK – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a theater clerk to work at the Ron Robinson Theater on Library Square. The Theater clerk will work up to 20 hours per week as needed at various events at the theater. Essential duties include working in the concession stand selling alcohol and other snacks, setting up and breaking down events, and providing excellent customer service. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, be able to stand for long periods and able to push, pull and lift at least 50lbs. Work schedule mostly evenings and weekends, but can include some days.
