ASSISTANT BRANCH MANAGER / ADULT PROGRAMMER – Full-time public service position at Amy Sanders Library (10200 Johnson DR, Sherwood, AR 72120). We are seekinga positive, collaborative individual to help lead our team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in empathetic leadership, project management, and working with adult learners. Essential duties of this position include assisting the Branch Manager with management functions including scheduling, supervision, and staff development; modeling excellent communication and customer service skills; performing functions associated with a public library environment such as circulation, guest services, instructional assistance, and administrative reporting; executing all aspects of library activities and events for adults, including program development, marketing and promotion, implementation, and analysis. Must be able to work independently and to organize and complete multiple assignments concurrently. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the ability to function under flexible and changing conditions required. Candidates must be able to reach, lift, push and pull up to 50lbs, and be able to stand for periods of time. Schedule will include some nights and Saturdays. LIBRARY SAFETY OFFICER – Full-time (40 hrs. per week). The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a library safety officer at the John Gould Fletcher Library. Our ideal candidate is an approachable, friendly, and team-oriented individual who enjoys working with patrons of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences, and has a customer-service-oriented approach to public safety. The work schedule will be Monday and Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Key responsibilities include working closely with library staff to address daily challenges with a respectful and inclusive approach; proactively addressing problem behavior before corrective action is required; building relationships with a large after-school crowd; enforcing the library’s Rules of Conduct with fairness and understanding; accurately documenting incidents; patrolling our large campus; and responding to and assisting with emergencies. Must be able to stand, walk for extended periods of time, and work indoors and outdoors. Some computer experience is required and must have reliable transportation. Spanish language skills a plus but not required. Salary starts at $16.11 per hour and includes excellent benefits such as medical, dental, vision, company paid retirement, life insurance, paid time off, paid parental leave, and holiday pay.
