DIRECTOR OF EQUITY AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES – We welcome you to join CALS as The Director of Equity and Community Resources. In this position, you will work along key members of the CALS leadership team, reporting directly to the executive director. The DECR is responsible for the development and support of community-facing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, programs, and partnerships ensuring that community engagement efforts reach underserved and marginalized populations and are designed and delivered with cultural sensitivity and maximum effectiveness. This position also oversees the Rock It Lab, Community Resources department, CALS community liaisons and outreach coordinator.  We are hoping to find an individual who champions the importance of diversity and inclusion and has exceptional communication skills, strong interpersonal and relationship skills, and the ability to innovate and manage change comfortably in a highly collaborative, agile environment. Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Library Science, Education, Social Work, Human Resource, or another related field is required, plus five years of relevant experience with at least two years in a leadership role managing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives or a combination of education and experience. A post-graduate degree in one of the above areas and/or experience in fundraising, community/media relations, and education outreach is preferred. YOUTH PROGRAMMER — The Central Arkansas Library System is in search of an outstanding, outgoing individual to lead and coordinate children and youth activities at the Terry Library. This Youth Programmer will be a 40-hour per week full-time public service position with responsibilities to include planning and actively carrying out a variety of activities for children and families both inside the library and out in the community. Activities include storytime, crafting, afterschool events, and other creative endeavors. This job also involves introducing and suggesting books and authors that promote early literacy to families. Assistance with front desk duties, excellent customer service skills, and technology assistance, along with working some evenings and every other Saturday, is required. SECURITY GUARD – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full time (40 hours) per week security guard to work Tuesday-Friday at the Fletcher Library in Little Rock, Arkansas and Saturday at the Main Branch in Little Rock, Ar. The candidate should be friendly, team-orientated, enjoy working with the public and have a customer service-oriented approach in public safety while working in a diverse and inclusive environment.  The security department works closely with the Community Resource department and local law enforcement agencies.  Candidate is expected to help diffuse various situations in a positive, courteous, and professional manner as well as assist staff with after school kids of all ages.  Additional responsibilities include assisting patrons with information and assisting staff with security concerns.  Shift work required to include evenings and weekends.  Must be able to stand, walk for extended periods of time, work indoors and outdoors. Some computer experience is required and must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Pay starts at $15.66 and includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, company paid pension, life insurance, paid time off, and holiday pay.
