YOUTH PROGRAMMER – Full-time 40 hours per week public service position at the Thompson Library. Seeking dynamic and energetic youth programmer to focus on bringing children’s library programs into the community. In addition to programming, the employee will demonstrate excellent customer service to library patrons of all ages and perform outreach. Other essential duties include working at the circulation desk, providing reader’s advisory, building displays, and posting to social media. Ideal candidate will be team oriented, have experience working with children, and have some knowledge of youth literature. Some weekends required. LIBRARY DELIVERY DRIVER – The Central Arkansas Library System seeks a full-time library deliver driver. The library delivery driver is responsible for the safe delivery of books and other materials to all the branches/departments around the system. Essential duties include conducting vehicle inspection before and after trips and reporting issues to management, communicate and interact with staff at libraries for any special needs/requests, follow all traffic laws, and maintain a positive attitude with staff. Other duties include checking maintenance software to review work orders, checking email, and keeping up with fuel receipts and complete an expense report. COMMUNITY OUTREACH ARCHIVIST – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time Community Outreach Archivist. This Archivist will assist the Butler Center in managing and coordinating its existing and prospective services, programs, and projects focused on connecting different users and user communities to the Center’s resources and engaging new and diverse audiences. The Community Outreach Archivist will be responsible for developing tools, programs, and relationships that will share the Center’s resources with the local community and beyond. The archivist will also provide services to patrons using materials in the Roberts Library research room, especially through the processing of manuscripts and other primary material in the collection and developing many of its online resources. The position requires familiarity with archival material and technology as well as excellent communication skills. MAINTENANCE MANAGER – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time maintenance manager. The maintenance manager is responsible for providing leadership, direction and daily management for CALS’ facilities maintenance and housekeeping departments as well as other staff. The maintenance and housekeeping departments are responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of 19 facilities as well as company owned vehicles.

Essential duties include assigning work orders to staff using maintenance software (FMX), negotiate, execute, and oversee contracts for contracted services, prepare yearly budget and operate within allowed budget, monitor and adjust HVAC controls via MetaSys automation software system. Other duties include working with branch managers on facilities issues and solutions, assist maintenance and logistics technicians as needed, follow and direct staff on all COVID protocols and participate in the short-term and long-term planning for maintenance needs. Interested candidates should have at least a bachelor’s degree in a technical field plus 5 years related experience/and or training, and 2 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional skills include great customer service, excellent written and oral communication, ability to ensure a safe work environment and develop a culture of safety within the maintenance department, budget development and management experience. WEBMASTER – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time webmaster to manage all aspects of the library’s online presence. CALS is the largest public library system in Arkansas and serves a population of over 300,000 people. Our mission is to provide resources and services to help residents reach their full potential, and to inspire discovery, learning and cultural expressions.

The Webmaster is responsible for all website software updates, ongoing optimization, troubleshooting, ADA compliance, SEO execution, and UX/UI website innovation. Oversees all technical contacts related to CALS’s web presence, including the Content Management System (CMS), currently WordPress. Responsible for ensuring website is well managed, healthy, responsive, and accessible, and developing a review process to ensure all content is accurate and current. Other essential duties include managing analytics for all web properties and administering online payments, ticket sales and registration for CALS programs. Interested candidates should have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, design, marketing or a related field with at least 2 years of experience or equivalent experience and education, be highly proficient with WordPress, HTML, CSS, PHP and working knowledge of XML, SQL, JavaScript, and other programming languages. THEATER EVENTS COORDINATOR – The Central Arkansas Library Ron Robinson Theater is seeking a full-time theater events coordinator. The theater events coordinator is responsible for the supervision and coordination of CALS programmed events at the theater. This position serves as the supervisor for event staff and volunteers during scheduled events, as well as the manage some of the functional aspects of events to ensure a positive patron experience. This position oversees inventory, storage, and facility upkeep and contributes to CALS Ron Robinson Theater’s meaningful programming. Essential duties include open and close theater events, set up and breakdown, inventory purchasing and pickup, volunteer management and coordination, programming, and statistical reporting. SECURITY GUARD – 6 Full-time security guard positions available at the Central Arkansas Library System. GRANTS AND DEVELOPMENT AMERICORPS VISTA MEMBER – full-time/30hrs per week at Main Library. Seeking a self-motivated individual with strong writing and communication skills to develop sustainable funding streams for programs and projects that alleviate poverty. Major functions will include soliciting donations and corresponding with donors. Additionally, this VISTA will be responsible for supporting the development of a new customer database to ensure the software properly stores and tracks funding. This VISTA member will increase CALS development team’s capacity to apply for and manage grants. The applicant should have experience with MS Office Suite. Applicants should hold a four-year degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a similar field. VISTA members receive a $15,000 living allowance and have the option between receiving a $6,195 education award or $1,800 end of service stipend.
