Full-Time Positions

LIBRARY ASSISTANT – Full-time public service position, 40 hours per week at the Williams Library (1800 Chester St., Little Rock, AR 72206). This position requires a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and high energy. Essential duties and responsibilities include assisting patrons on the circulation desk, at self-service kiosks, and throughout the library space as needed, as well as all day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. Other duties include shelving library materials as well as checking materials in and out, answering patron questions, registering patrons for library cards, information searching, willingness to enforce rules of conduct, and basic computer troubleshooting. Experience working with youth a plus. Applicants must be available to work some evenings and Saturdays. Salary range starts at $15.37 per hour and includes excellent benefits such as health, dental, vision, company paid life insurance, holiday pay, paid time off and pension. LIBRARY SAFETY OFFICER – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time (40 hrs. per week) library safety officer to work Monday-Friday with some Saturdays as needed at the Williams Library (1800 Chester St., Little Rock, AR, 72206). The candidate should be outgoing, friendly, team-orientated, and enjoy working with all ages and have a customer service-oriented approach to public safety while working in a diverse and inclusive environment. Experience working with youth a plus. Essential duties include working closely with branch staff to solve challenges throughout the day and help diffuse various situations in a positive, courteous, and professional manner. Additional responsibilities include assisting patrons with information and assisting staff with public safety concerns. Must be able to stand, walk for extended periods of time, work indoors and outdoors. Some computer experience is required and must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Spanish language skills a plus, but not required. Pay starts at $16.11 and includes excellent benefits such as medical, dental, vision, company paid pension, life insurance, paid time off and holiday pay. YOUTH PROGRAMMER – The Central Arkansas Library System is in search of a full-time (40 hrs/week) outstanding, outgoing individual to lead and coordinate children and youth activities at the Main Library. The Youth Programmer is a public service position with responsibilities to include planning and actively carrying out a variety of activities including outreach for children and families both inside the library and out in the community. Activities include storytime, crafting, afterschool events, and other creative endeavors. This job also involves introducing and suggesting books and authors that promote early literacy to families, as well as working with the Be Mighty afterschool food distribution program and assisting with day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. Assistance with front desk duties, excellent customer service skills, and technology assistance, along with working every other Saturday on a rotating schedule, is required. Part-Time Positions

HOUSEKEEPING TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System seeks a part-time 20 hour per week Housekeeping Technician to perform upkeep and cleaning at Rooker Library. Essential duties include cleaning restrooms, floors, glass, furniture, emptying trash cans, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, and other duties as assigned. Some experience required, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have a positive attitude. Must have and maintain a valid AR drivers license. Starting salary $15.00/hour. Benefits include paid time off, holiday pay, and eligibility to participate in CALS 457 retirement plan.
