ADULT PROGRAMMER – Seeking a fun, energetic, team-orientated diverse applicant qualified to work as a full-time adult programmer at Thompson Library. Candidate should have a strong commitment to public service to create and implement adult programs. Responsibilities include planning in-branch and outreach programs for adults, with an emphasis on cooking programs.  Creating displays, designing printed and digital materials and promotions, working public service desk, answering patron questions, information searching, and shelving also required.  Excellent communication, technology and customer service skills are required. Must be able to work well with adults, and cooperatively with staff and public. Experience with adult programming desirable. Familiarity with adult literature and popular media desirable. YOUTH PROGRAMMER — The Central Arkansas Library System is in search of an outstanding, outgoing individual to lead and coordinate children and youth activities at the Children’s Library and Learning Center. This Youth Programmer will be a full-time public service position with responsibilities to include planning and actively carrying out a variety of activities for children and families both inside the library and out in the community. Activities include storytime, crafting, afterschool events, and other creative endeavors. This job also involves introducing and suggesting books and authors that promote early literacy to families. Assistance with front desk duties, excellent customer service skills, and technology assistance, along with working some weekends and evenings, is required. Bilingual preferred. YOUTH SERVICES/LEVEL 4 MANAGER – Youth Services/Level 4, Main Library – The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) is seeking a full-time, team-oriented, experienced librarian to lead the Youth Services/Level 4 departments at the Main Library. The departments include traditional library spaces as well as study and meeting rooms for children, families, and teens, spread across two floors of the library. This department serves a diverse population from across Little Rock, including extensive outreach efforts, work with marginalized populations, and work to support system-wide initiatives. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills and an enthusiasm for working with people of all ages and backgrounds. Responsibilities include administering day-to-day department operations; training, supervising, and evaluating staff; overseeing and coordinating programming; and proactive outreach to the community. An ALA-accredited MLS or comparable degree, or significant work towards such a degree, is preferred. At least 3 years of library supervisory experience is preferred. Schedule may include some nights and weekends. Annual pay range starts at $55,307 and includes excellent benefits such as medical, dental, vision, company paid pension and life insurance. Part-Time Positions

LIBRARY CLERK – Part-time 20 hours/week​, public service position at the Nixon Library. Seeking energetic, customer service-oriented applicant with exceptional sorting ability, great attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. Essential duties include shelving items, shelf reading, emptying book drops, working ​the circulation desk, and answering patron questions. Must be able to stand long periods of time, push and pull up to 50 lbs., lift, squat and work ​some evenings and every other Saturday. LIBRARY ASSISTANT – Part-time 20 hours/week public service position at the McMath library. Essential duties and responsibilities include managing the audio/visual materials(problems, missing parts, broken materials), assisting patrons on the circulation desk, self-service kiosks, and throughout the library space as needed, as well as all day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. This position requires experience with technology, digital media, excellent communication, and customer service. Other duties include shelving library materials, checking materials in and out, answering patron questions, registering patrons for library cards, information searching, and basic computer troubleshooting. Applicants must be available to work every Monday from 4pm-8pm and every Saturday from 9am-6pm. CAFE SERVICE ATTENDANT– Part-time position, hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. Looking for an outgoing, energetic, and extroverted person to staff the Main Library‘s first-floor coffee café. Responsible for opening and closing coffee/food operations, working with vendors to order and stock supplies, serving coffee, drinks, and food, and answering directional questions about events and happenings at Library Square, within the CALS system, and in the River Market/downtown neighborhood. Temporary / Seasonal Positions

Summer Programmers for Youth – 2 temporary, part-time positions (20 hours/week) – Central Arkansas Library System seeks high energy applicants to plan and implement early literacy programs for young children across our fourteen-branch library system as well as hands-on activities for elementary-age students in libraries and through outreach to summer programs.  The positions will run through June and July (approximately 8 weeks). Ideal candidates will have experience or training in working with children in an educational or enrichment setting.
