Full-Time Positions

LIBRARY DELIVERY DRIVER – The Central Arkansas Library System seeks a full-time library delivery driver (40 hrs/wk). The library delivery driver is responsible for the safe delivery of books and other materials to all the branches/departments around the system. Essential duties include conducting vehicle inspection before and after trips and reporting issues to management, communicate and interact with staff at libraries for any special needs/requests, follow all traffic laws, and maintain a positive attitude with staff. Other duties include checking maintenance software to review work orders, checking email, and keeping up with fuel receipts and complete an expense report. Interested candidates must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, must be able to push, pull, lift, and squat at least 75lbs without any assistance, be able to work independently and be familiar with driving routes in CALS service areas. YOUTH PROGRAMMER – The Central Arkansas Library System is in search of a full-time (40 hrs/week) outstanding, outgoing individual to lead and coordinate children and youth activities at the Main Library. The Youth Programmer is a public service position with responsibilities to include planning and actively carrying out a variety of activities including outreach for children and families both inside the library and out in the community. Activities include storytime, crafting, afterschool events, and other creative endeavors. This job also involves introducing and suggesting books and authors that promote early literacy to families, as well as working with the Be Mighty afterschool food distribution program and assisting with day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. Assistance with front desk duties, excellent customer service skills, and technology assistance, along with working every other Saturday on a rotating schedule, is required. SKILLED RENOVATION TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full time (40 hours/week) skilled renovation technician with painting/carpentry/drywall skills, capable of performing small remodel jobs, to maintain/repair 19 public library facilities. High school diploma or equivalent, valid AR driver’s license with clean driving record, 5 years construction experience, and knowledge of a specialized field or combination of equivalent education and experience. Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs., push, pull, and squat. Basic computer skills, detail oriented, and the ability to work in a team-oriented, task sharing environment is essential. Other duties as assigned. Part-Time Positions

LIBRARY CLERK – Part-time 20 hours/week public service position at the Thompson Library (38 Rahling Circle, Little Rock, AR 72223). Seeking energetic, customer service-oriented applicant with exceptional sorting ability, great attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. Essential duties include shelving items, shelf reading, emptying book bins, working the circulation desk, and answering patron questions. Must be able to stand for long periods, push and pull at least 50 lbs., lift, squat, and work every other Friday and Saturday. HOUSEKEEPING TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System seeks a part-time 20 hour per week Housekeeping Technician to perform upkeep and cleaning at Rooker Library. Essential duties include cleaning restrooms, floors, glass, furniture, emptying trash cans, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, and other duties as assigned. Some experience required, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have a positive attitude. Must have and maintain a valid AR drivers license. Starting salary $15.00/hour. Benefits include paid time off, holiday pay, and eligibility to participate in CALS 457 retirement plan.
