Full-Time Positions
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR – Full-time (40 hours/week). The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Volunteer Coordinator to administer CALS’s volunteer program. This position is based at the Main Library (100 Rock Street, Little Rock, AR 72201) but will require occasional visits to all CALS locations across our two-county service area. Primary responsibilities include recruiting, training, scheduling, and managing volunteers, as well as collaborating with colleagues to address systemwide volunteer needs. The ideal candidate should be organized, outgoing, and passionate about working with volunteers. This job also involves providing training to library staff who work with volunteers. The schedule includes working Monday-Friday, though occasional work on evenings and weekends may be required for special events. LIBRARY ASSISTANT – full-time (40 hour/week) public service position at the Main Library (100 S Rock St, Little Rock, AR 72201) Youth Department. Essential duties and responsibilities include assisting patrons on the circulation desk, at self-service kiosks, and throughout the library space as needed, and all day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. This position requires experience with technology, the willingness to enforce rules of conduct, excellent communication, customer service, and attention to detail. This job also involves working with children, families, and teens. Must be able to work every other Saturday. Salary range starts at $15.37 per hour and includes excellent benefits such as medical, dental, vision, company paid retirement, life insurance, paid time off, paid parental leave, and holiday pay. Part-Time Positions
LIBRARY ASSISTANT FLOATER – Part-time public service position, 20 hours per week. Essential duties and responsibilities include assisting patrons on the circulation desk, at self-service kiosks, and throughout the library space as needed, as well as all day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. This position requires the willingness to assist with crowd control during afterschool hours, to enforce rules of conduct, and to assist in any other way needed to help library staff maintain order during crowded and busy times. Other duties include shelving library materials, checking materials in and out, answering patron questions, registering patrons for library cards, information searching, and basic computer troubleshooting. Applicants must be available to work some evenings and most Fridays and Saturdays, as well as having reliable transportation. This employee will be assigned to work at different locations on a weekly basis as a substitute wherever assigned throughout the service area. Each week’s location assignments will be different. LIBRARY CLERK – Part-time 20 hours/week public service position at the Thompson Library (38 Rahling Cir, Little Rock, AR 72223). Seeking energetic, customer service-oriented applicant with exceptional sorting ability, great attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. Essential duties include shelving items, shelf reading, emptying book bins, working the circulation desk, and answering patron questions. Must be able to stand for long periods, push and pull at least 50 lbs., lift, and squat. Must be able to work every other Saturday with the remaining scheduled hours being negotiable throughout the work week.
