MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time (40 hrs/week) maintenance technician to maintain/repair equipment, physical structures, furnishings, and building systems for public library facilities. High school diploma or equivalent and valid AR driver’s license. Other requirements include must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, push, pull, and squat, and have basic computer skills. Candidate must also be able to work in team-oriented, task-sharing environment. Other duties as assigned. LIBRARY DELIVERY DRIVER – The Central Arkansas Library System seeks a full-time library delivery driver (40 hrs/wk). The library delivery driver is responsible for the safe delivery of books and other materials to all the branches/departments around the system in a large box truck; no CDL required. Essential duties include conducting vehicle inspection before and after trips and reporting issues to management, communicate and interact with staff at libraries for any special needs/requests, follow all traffic laws, and maintain a positive attitude with staff. Other duties include checking maintenance software to review work orders, checking email, and keeping up with fuel receipts and complete an expense report. Interested candidates must have a valid AR driver’s license with a good driving record, must be able to push, pull, lift, and squat at least 75lbs without any assistance, be able to work independently and be familiar with driving routes in CALS service areas. LIBRARY SPECIALIST – Full-time (40 hours per week) public service position in the Information Services Department at the Main Library of the Central Arkansas Library System. Essential duties include assisting the periodicals manager with collection maintenance, managing the ordering, distribution, and disposal of tax forms, and staffing the public computer lab. Additional duties include providing technology assistance to members of the public with a wide variety of skill levels and backgrounds, providing basic computer troubleshooting, and assisting patrons with using the library’s digital resources. Must have exceptional technology skills and knowledge of a wide variety of software and digital devices. Candidate must be able to provide instructional assistance in person and remotely. Candidate must possess strong customer-service, problem-solving, and communication skills. An ideal candidate will be flexible, possess an easy-going attitude, and have enthusiasm for working with diverse patrons and staff. PUBLIC RELATIONS SPECIALIST — The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) Public Relations Specialist in the Communications Department. Essential duties of this position include (1) assisting with CALS’ social media strategies; (2) facilitating exposure of library events and services to CALS patrons and media outlets; (3) working with the Community Outreach team to coordinate and develop an editorial calendar; (4) assisting with the implementation of library events; (5) performing any other related duties as required or assigned. The PR Specialist will also assist with graphic design, so experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva is preferred. LIBRARY SAFETY OFFICER – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time (40 hrs. per week) library safety officer at the Williams Library (1800 Chester St., Little Rock, AR, 72206). Work schedule would be: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9am-6pm, Tuesday/Thursday 11am-8pm, and the occasional Saturday. The candidate should be outgoing, friendly, team-orientated, and enjoy working with all ages and have a customer service-oriented approach to public safety while working in a diverse and inclusive environment. Daily duties include interacting with after-school crowds and enforcing the rules of conduct. Experience working with youth a plus. Essential duties include working closely with branch staff to solve challenges throughout the day and help diffuse various situations in a positive, courteous, and professional manner. Additional responsibilities include assisting patrons with information and assisting staff with public safety concerns. Must be able to stand, walk for extended periods of time, work indoors and outdoors. Some computer experience is required and must have reliable transportation. LIBRARY CLERK – Part-time 20 hours/week public service position at the Children’s Library & Learning Center (4800 W 10th St., Little Rock, AR 72204). Seeking energetic, customer service-oriented applicant with exceptional sorting ability, great attention to detail, and communication skills. Essential duties include shelving items, shelf reading, emptying book bins, working the circulation desk, and answering patron questions. Must be able to stand for long periods, push and pull at least 50 lbs., lift, and squat. Working every other Saturday 9am-6pm would be required, with the remaining scheduled hours being negotiable throughout the work week. The pay is $15.00 per hour. Temporary / Seasonal Positions
THEATER CLERK – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a theater clerk to work at the Ron Robinson Theater on Library Square. The Theater clerk will work up to 20 hours per week as needed at various events at the theater. Essential duties include working in the concession stand selling alcohol and other snacks, setting up and breaking down events, and providing excellent customer service. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, be able to stand for long periods and able to push, pull and lift at least 50lbs. Work schedule mostly evenings and weekends, but can include some days.
