Full-Time Positions

YOUTH PROGRAMMER – We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Youth Programmer to join our Fletcher Library (823 N. Buchanan St., Little Rock, AR 72205) team and make a positive impact on our community. Responsibilities include planning, promoting, and implementing engaging, age-appropriate activities for children and youth. Other duties include working at the front desk, answering patron questions, information searching, and providing technology assistance. This is a public service position that requires creativity, excellent customer service and communication skills, and the ability to connect with children, caregivers, and community partners. Must be comfortable working with the public and providing friendly and professional assistance to a diverse community. The schedule includes a Monday evening shift and 8:00 to 5:00 every other Saturday. Salary starts at $16.47 per hour and includes excellent benefits such as medical, dental, vision, company paid retirement benefits, life insurance, paid time off, paid parental leave and holiday pay. Part-Time Positions

SUMMER PROGRAMMERS FOR YOUTH – Two (2) temporary, part-time positions (20 hours/week) – Central Arkansas Library System seeks high energy applicants to plan and implement early literacy programs for young children across our fourteen-branch library system as well as hands-on activities for elementary-age students in libraries and through outreach to summer programs. Ideal candidates will have experience or training in working with children in an educational or enrichment setting. This position requires travel to library branches, area schools, and childcare centers.  $15/hour. To apply, please complete the online application. Open until filled.

LIBRARY CLERK – Part-time 20 hours/week public service position at the Maumelle Library (10 Lake Pointe Dr., Maumelle, AR 72113). Seeking energetic, customer service-oriented applicant with exceptional sorting ability, great attention to detail, and communication skills. Essential duties include shelving items, shelf reading, emptying book bins, working the circulation desk, and answering patron questions. Must be able to stand for long periods, push and pull at least 50 lbs., lift, and squat. Scheduled hours for this position are from 9:00am – 6:00pm, alternating Fridays and Saturdays, with the remaining scheduled hours being negotiable throughout the work week. The pay is $15.00 per hour. Benefits include paid time off, holiday pay, and eligibility to participate in CALS 457 retirement plan. Temporary / Seasonal Positions

SUMMER INTERNS: Central Arkansas Library System is seeking individuals ages 16 years and up with interest in a library career.  Summer interns will learn the fundamentals of working in a public library, including sorting and shelving, working a public-service desk, and assisting with programs for all age groups at various CALS branches. Interns will work 15-20 hours/week to include some evenings, weekends, and special events. Applicants should be team-oriented, high-energy, and be able to interact positively with diverse populations. Interns must successfully pass a background check and be willing to work at an assigned location. The summer internship will last between 8-10 weeks beginning June 2, although starting dates may vary by location. Pay is $15.00/hour.
