YOUTH PROGRAMMER — The Central Arkansas Library System is in search of a full-time (40 hrs/week) outstanding, outgoing individual to lead and coordinate children and youth activities at the Dee Brown Library. The Youth Programmer is a public service position with responsibilities to include planning and actively carrying out a variety of activities for children and families both inside the library and out in the community. Activities include storytime, crafting, afterschool events, and other creative endeavors. This job also involves introducing and suggesting books and authors that promote early literacy to families, as well as working with the Be Mighty afterschool food distribution program and assisting with day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. Assistance with front desk duties, excellent customer service skills, and technology assistance, along with working every other weekend and some evenings, is required. Salary range starts at $16.47 per hour with excellent benefits such as medical, dental, vision, company paid pension, life insurance, paid time off, and holiday pay. HOUSEKEEPING TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System seeks a full-time 40 hour per week Housekeeping Technician to perform upkeep and cleaning at CALS facilities. Essential duties include cleaning restrooms, floors, glass, furniture, emptying trash cans, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, and other duties as assigned. Some experience required, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have a positive attitude. Starting salary $15.00/hour plus excellent benefits such as medical, dental, vision, company paid pension, life insurance, paid time off, and holiday pay. CALS COUNT UP CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT AMERICORPS VISTA — (full-time/30 hrs per week) Count Up is a K-12 math tutoring program housed within CALS’s Children’s branch. The program is student-driven and research-based, currently serving 70 students in Pulaski and Perry Counties. The program is breaking the cycle of poverty by providing educational support and alleviating learning loss in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Count Up Curriculum Development AmeriCorps VISTA’s focus area falls under AmeriCorps’s Education priority. The VISTA will function in a capacity building role, creating promotional materials for the program, connecting with local educators, developing curriculum best practices, and reporting on program performance. Candidates must be willing to complete a background check and be able to start on July 17, 2023, and work through July 15, 2024. VISTA members have the choice of receiving an education award or an end of service stipend and receive up to 20 paid days off during their service term. VISTAs typically work 30 hours per week.
