HOUSEKEEPING TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System seeks a full-time 40 hour per week Housekeeping Technician to perform upkeep and cleaning at CALS facilities. Essential duties include cleaning restrooms, floors, glass, furniture, emptying trash cans, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, and other duties as assigned. YOUTH PROGRAMMER – The Central Arkansas Library System is in search of a full-time (40 hrs/week) outstanding, outgoing individual to lead and coordinate children and youth activities at the Rooker Library (11 Otter Creek Ct., Little Rock, AR 72210). The Youth Programmer is a public service position with responsibilities to include planning and actively carrying out a variety of activities for children and families both inside the library and out in the community. Activities include storytime, crafting, afterschool events, and other creative endeavors. This job also involves introducing and suggesting books and authors that promote early literacy to families, as well as working with the Be Mighty food distribution program and assisting with day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. Assistance with front desk duties, excellent customer service skills, and technology assistance, along with working some evenings and Saturdays, is required. BRANCH MANAGER – The Central Arkansas Library System seeks a full-time Branch Manager for the Amy Sanders Library (10200 Johnson Drive, Sherwood, AR 72120). An ALA-accredited MLS, current work toward an MLS, or the equivalent of a four-year college degree plus three years related experience and/or training is required. Previous related management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is strongly preferred. Candidates must possess strong customer service skills and enthusiasm for working with a diverse population of all ages. Supervisory, leadership, and project management skills are required, along with an open-minded and progressive approach to library service. Strong local community involvement is essential. Responsibilities include oversight of all daily library operations, staff supervision and training as well as hiring and evaluation, cash handling, and scheduling. Knowledge of electronic information services and library technology is essential. Spanish language skills highly desirable. Schedule will include some nights and weekends. Salary starts at $55,307/yr. plus outstanding benefits package including medical, dental, vision, company paid pension, life insurance, paid time off and holiday pay. BOOKMOBILE MANAGER – Full-time 40 hours/week public service position for Central Arkansas Library System, 100 Rock St, Little Rock, AR 72211. Seeking a motivated, enthusiastic people-person with excellent driving and social skills. Candidate will spend 2-5 days per week on the road, delivering library services to remote and unincorporated parts of Pulaski and Perry Counties via the “CALS Cruiser” (bookmobile) van. The ability to connect with people of all ages and all walks of life is an essential element to this service-oriented position. Duties include driving the equipped van on a regular monthly route, setting up the van and its services for public access, assisting patrons in acquiring library cards and checking materials in and out, and keeping the van collection organized and the van maintained. In addition, accompanying outreach teams to events and assisting with those efforts will be a big part of this job. Digital literacy is essential for assisting patrons with digital materials and devices. ALA accredited MLS degree desired, but not required. Must have and maintain a valid AR driver’s license. Must be willing to learn basic vehicle maintenance practices and procedures and be able to push and pull up to 50 lbs. This job requires lots of movement in and out of a vehicle and significant time driving as well as significant time standing. Occasional weekend shifts may be required. The pay starts at $44,158. MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time (40 hrs/week) facilities maintenance technician with electrical experience to install and maintain the wiring and control equipment through which electricity flows for all public library facilities. High school diploma or equivalent and valid AR driver’s license. Other requirements include must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time and have basic computer skills.  Candidate must also be able to work in team-oriented, task-sharing environment. TEEN & ADULT PROGRAMMER – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time (40 hrs. per week) Teen & Adult Programmer to work weekday hours, with some evenings and Saturdays at the Williams Library (1800 Chester St., Little Rock, AR, 72206). The candidate should be energetic, flexible, and team-oriented with a strong commitment to public service to create and implement programs for teens and adults, while working in a diverse and inclusive environment. Responsibilities include planning in-branch and outreach programs for teens and adults, creating displays, designing printed and digital materials and promotions, working public service desk, answering patron questions, information searching, shelving and assisting with after school crowd control. Excellent communication, technology and customer service skills are required. Must be able to work well with all age groups, and cooperatively with staff and public. Additional responsibilities include assisting patrons with information and assisting staff with public safety concerns. Must be able to stand, walk for extended periods of time, work indoors and outdoors. Some computer experience is required and must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Spanish language skills a plus, but not required.
