Holiday Events Around CALS

We love the holidays here at CALS and this time of the year you can’t step into a branch without tripping over a candy cane or running into a seasonal craft. This is not an exhaustive list of everything going on at CALS (you can find that here) but it’s everything that you need to be sure not to miss if you’re eager to don a Santa hat and throw back a little eggnog.

PJ Storytime at Children’s was a colorful success!

 

Parents and kids joined in the Oliver Jeffers fun Thursday, November 17. PJ Storytime is an event that takes place at the Hillary Rodham Clinton Children’s Library and Learning Center regularly, but this time things were a bit different. Guests were treated to dinner (soup, sandwiches and salad) while everyone hung out in their PJs (even a few adults!).

MasterClass on Hoopla

Hoopla is an app that patrons are able to access through CALS for free. Patrons can “check out” movies, TV shows, and graphic novels. Recently, Hoopla has begun adding MasterClass to the roster of available videos. MasterClass videos are tutorials and lectures pre-recorded by experts in various fields. Currently, CALS has access to five MasterClasses,

Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive Partnership with Arkansas PBS

CALS is proud to partner with Arkansas PBS to host the Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive. This drive is a tribute to Fred Rogers and his example of being a caring neighbor. Those who have watched Mister Rogers may be familiar with his tradition of changing into a sweater and sneakers as the show started.

Friends of CALS Used Book Sale

The Friends of CALS Used Book Sale will take place November 17-19; perfect for stocking up before the holidays!

Used Book Sale hours are:
Thursday, November 17, 5pm – 7pm (Friends of CALS members only)
Friday, November 18, 10am – 6pm
Saturday, November 19, 10am – 4pm

Most books at the Used Book Sale are priced at $1 for paperbacks and $2 for hardbacks.
