Two businesses with Hearne at the helm

What is there to say about Garbo Hearne that hasn’t already been said? Grace, tenacity, well-educated and vastly so. A business owner driven by her convictions that art should be accessible and attainable. And dedicated to the idea that art in the African American community is something that should be celebrated.

Garbo and her husband, Dr. Archie Hearne III, own Hearne Art Consortium which is composed of Pyramid Art, Books & Custom Framing/Hearne Fine Art, Hearne Fine Art & Consulting Services and Hearne Southern Auction House. In business since June 1998, the Hearnes have built something that many might think isn’t possible. An art gallery and framing business that has outlasted the majority of similar businesses. Self-described as an “ever-evolving work in progress,” Garbo continues to adapt her business daily.  As Garbo continues to grow her business, she adds more and more skills to her repertoire: framing, networking with artists, fine art appraisal. At each turn she has not only educated herself on the subject matter, but also excelled. And at the core of everything she does? Expanding African American culture in the quest to generate and sustain generational wealth.

Garbo continues to grow the consortium with a competent staff and a team approach. Student interns have been very important to its success. Community involvement through arts advocacy with Arkansans for the Arts and board membership in the Dunbar Historic Neighborhood Association keeps the connection with the community, which is essential.

She will share this wisdom and more with us Tuesday, April 6, at noon during the Rock It! Lab’s Beyond the Idea monthly discussion. If you have ever had a question you would like to pose of Garbo or would just like to be able to hear from her firsthand, we invite you to join us
