Summer @ CALS
This summer, join CALS as we Unearth a Story. In our summer learning challenge, explorers can log books and movies to earn digital badges. Explorers can also log attendance at library programs and events to earn additional badges. Each badge earned is an entry into our weekly branch prize drawings. Young children and teens who complete the program by earning at least 8 digital badges receive a free book prize from their local branch. We will enjoy magic, crafts, bubbles, dinosaur encounters, and so much more. There are challenges available to all age groups from preschoolers to adults because Summer @ CALS is for everyone!
Prehistoric Party: Summer @ CALS Kickoff
Join us at the Children’s Library on Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a Prehistoric Party. we will be kicking off Summer @ CALS 2026 with a magic show from Tommy Terrific, crafts, snacks, and more as we get ready for Summer 2026, Unearth A Story! Sponsored by Wright Lindsey Jennings.

Tommy Terrific will be presenting “A Magical Dinosaur Dig”. This magic show will feature a huge Magic Trunk filled with Dinosaur Fossils and Tools for Dinosaur Exploration. With the help of the Magician’s Handbook, the kids guide Tommy Terrific through a magical adventure where the world of dinosaurs come alive in wacky and unexpected ways.

Come face-to-face with Bleu! Our adult Velociraptor, inspired from the Jurassic World movies! Our Raptor Ranger will introduce your littles to our life-size, interactive Raptor and invite them for petting and pics! This encounter is suitable for ages 5 on up.

Library Night with the Arkansas Travelers
Get a free ticket to Library Night at Dickey-Stephens Park when you register for Summer @ CALS (while supplies last). Visit any CALS location, once registered, to claim your ticket. Then, join CALS for an exciting night of baseball as the Arkansas Travelers face the San Antonio Missions. Registration opens May 26. Go Travs!
Beanstack
CALS has partnered with Beanstack, an easy-to-use, mobile-friendly website which offers age-appropriate book recommendations for kids, teens, adults, and families, based on your interests and background. Summer @ CALS participants may also track their reading and log their summer library activity to earn badges and entries into our weekly prize drawings.
When you register for Summer @ CALS with Beanstack, you can choose to receive regular emails which include reader recommendations and updates on reading challenge progress. If you click the link in the email, you’ll have direct access to the CALS catalog where you can place an item on hold and pick it up at your favorite branch.
