The Hillary Rodham Clinton Children’s Library & Learning Center (CLLC) has been celebrating the 10th anniversary of the library through a series of ten events! Be Mighty, a partnership between CALS and  City of Little Rock, Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, AdClub Little Rock, and Little Rock School District, that aims to provide free meals to kids and teens in Little Rock. Many CALS locations serve as meal sites where kids can have lunch during the summer or snacks after school.

It’s time again for the Friends of CALS Used Book Sale! First and foremost, we want to assure everyone that the book sale is not going away. It will be moving (more on that later), but for now, the summer sale will take place in its usual home in the Main Library lower level.

With the closing of the Galleries & Bookstore at Library Square, there have been questions about the importance of art to the library system. CALS Art Administrator Colin Thompson assures us that despite a few building changes, the presence of art within the system will remain now, during, and after the Main renovation.

It’s summer in Central Arkansas and you know what that means – warm (ok, let’s be real, HOT) temps and kids with extra energy to burn off. CALS has five ways to help beat the summer boredom. There are of course the obvious things you can do at the library like check out books and read in a corner until you go home and read some more (was that only me as a kid?) but CALS has so many other ways to have fun all summer long,

You might remember back in October we began offering the plus pack from the streaming service, Kanopy. We wanted to know if it was a service that our patrons enjoyed. And enjoy, you did! So starting June 1, we are offering the full catalog of Kanopy streaming services (as always, included free with your CALS card).

The Main, Rooker, McMath, and Terry branches now have book lockers available as a hold pick-up location.  These lockers give you a chance to check out your holds at your convenience, even if the best time for you is when the branch is closed. You’ll need to choose a locker as your pick-up location when you place your hold(s). 

Update- beginning May 26, all books will be $1. (this excludes rare books). Open Friday May 26, Saturday May 27, Tuesday May 30, and Wednesday May 31.

We’ve been saying that the Galleries & Bookstore at Library Square would close soon and it’s finally happening. We’re in the last month and while we’re all sad to see it go,
