MOBIUS- A world of books at your fingertips

CALS is proud to offer Interlibrary Loan (often called ILL) services to all cardholding members. ILL refers to the ability to borrow books, media and PDFs of articles from other libraries outside of our current system. As a member of MOBIUS, CALS offers the option of borrowing books from a consortium of 70+ public, academic, and special libraries that stretch across the Midwest region. This resource sharing network offers our patrons access to over 30 million additional items outside of our current library offerings.
Books requested via ILL must be titles that are not available in the CALS collection, you cannot reserve a book that is within our circulation but being borrowed at the moment. Due to the additional steps involved in packaging and shipping a book, items borrowed through MOBIUS can take several weeks to arrive, so please plan accordingly. To track the status of your ILL, create an account with Tipasa, this is the interlibrary loan management system that CALS uses. This will allow you to track all of your ILLs in once place and even receive text or email updates about the status so you will know exactly when your materials will arrive. The first time logging into Tipasa, you will need to create a new account, if you have problems doing this, please email askcals@cals.org.
As all books obtained through interlibrary loan do not belong to the CALS, certain aspects of the loan are established by the originating library; including the length of time items can be checked out as well as fees associated with replacement.
