Magazine lovers rejoice
Magazine readers, RBdigital where one of our digital magazine subscriptions is hosted, has been acquired by OverDrive and has resulted in a few changes. What does this mean for you? In the short term, it’s a win-win for our magazine readers! The magazines you enjoy reading can be accessed in either OverDrive or Libby. And in addition to the small, curated collection we previously offered, we now have access to more than 3,000 titles, and in some cases, up to three years’ worth of back issues for those titles. After March 31, RBdigital magazines will no longer be accessible.
Will there be more changes in the long term? Yes. Our digital magazine service with OverDrive is only guaranteed until the end of September when we will reexamine our subscription; this new more robust collection may be cost prohibitive to continue for the long term. As always, we strive to be good stewards of our resources and provide materials that the community and our patrons find the most beneficial. We will update you all as we continue to make adjustments to our digital magazine subscription.
