Friends of CALS Used Book Sale with MANY ways to save!

It’s time again for the Friends of CALS Used Book Sale! First and foremost, we want to assure everyone that the book sale is not going away. It will be moving (more on that later), but for now, the summer sale will take place in its usual home in the Main Library lower level. In order to thank our patrons and to also help reduce the number of books that will need to be moved after the sale, all books will be $1, including hardback and paperback. Books contained within a set will be $1 per book as well (sets will remain intact and cannot be broken up). Educators (with a valid ID) will receive an additional 25% off these reduced prices.

Used Book Sale hours are 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 14, and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, July 15. The book sale will take place in the basement of CALS Main Library, 100 Rock Street. Friends of CALS members can shop early Thursday, July 13, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Special for this sale, Friends of CALS members can “bring a friend for free;” any member may bring a single guest with them on Thursday to shop early. Friends of CALS memberships may be purchased anytime online at cals.org/about-friends, in-person during the book sale, or at any CALS branch.

Wagons, book bags and boxes are welcome. And if you find yourself with more books than you can carry, our helpful volunteers can assist with getting your books out to the loading deck where you can pick them up with your car.

Subsequent sales will take place at the Port Industrial Hub, 7773 Sloane Dr., where CALS administration will office during the renovation. The Fall/Winter sale dates are still TBD.

Revenue generated will go to the Friends of CALS fund to support the Six Bridges Book Festival, book club kits, Arkansas Sounds concerts, branch programs, Summer@CALS, youth programs, and various library activities.  For more information about the sale, call 501-918-3000 or visit cals.org.
