Friends basement book sale returns!
The pandemic has taken a lot of great things from us- vacations, birthdays, dining out, working at work. But the most devastating thing (in our humble opinion) was the loss of the Friends of CALS Used Book Sale. Thankfully, the book sale is back!
The first book sale will take place March 10-12; with Summer and Fall dates tentatively set for July 7-9, and November 17-19.
Used Book Sale hours are 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, March 12. The book sale will take place in the basement of CALS Main Library, 100 Rock Street. Friends of CALS members can shop early Thursday, March 10, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friends members also receive 50% off gently read books at the Galleries & Bookstore at Library Square on March 10 during regular business hours (10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.). Friends of CALS memberships may be purchased anytime online at cals.org/about-friends, in-person during the book sale, or at any CALS branch. Masks will be required for the shoppers and volunteers during all events.
Most books at the Used Book Sale are priced at $1 for paperbacks and $2 for hardbacks. Book totes will be available for purchase as well. Revenue generated will go to the Friends of CALS fund to support the Six Bridges Book Festival, book club kits, Arkansas Sounds concerts, branch programs, Summer Reading Club, youth programs, and various library activities.
