Six Bridges Book Festival – Rooftop Party

If you haven’t already cleared your schedule for the end of October, you’ll want to make room before you finish planning those Halloween parties. On October 20, 7-8:30 p.m., we’re lighting up the bridges with CALS orange and enjoying live music from the Big John Miller Band, refreshments, and a special Six Bridges beverage provided by Rock Town Distillery.

Six Bridges Book Festival presents: Cooking Workshops with Lauren Thomas and Vishwesh Bhatt

Six Bridges Book Festival is proud to offer two fantastic cooking workshops at the Roosevelt Thompson Library (38 Rahling Circle) on October 29. Lauren Thomas, author of The Modern Hippie Table, will present a Fall Charcuterie Design Workshop at 10am. Tickets are $15. Vishwesh Bhatt, author of I Am from Here: Stories and Recipes from a Southern Chef, will present an Evolving American South Cooking Workshop at 4pm. Tickets are $15. Additionally, Lauren and Vishwesh will speak together at 1pm.

Banned Books for your book club

CALS has a wide variety of books to choose from for your book clubs, there are nearly 350 titles available. These kits can be requested up to a year in advance and aren’t checked out like a traditional book. Kits include 10 copies of the book your group will read so you don’t have to track down individual copies.

Vega Discover Terminology

The switch from the old CALS catalog (BiblioCommons) to the new one (Vega Discover) has brought about a bit of confusion. At the core, both catalogs offer the same basic functions, but there are some things Discover does that BiblioCommons doesn’t, and some things BiblioCommons does that Discover doesn’t, or at least doesn’t yet because it is still being actively developed.

Be Mighty Little Rock Fall 2022

Kids and teens 18 and younger can receive free USDA meals through Be Mighty Little Rock and the Central Arkansas Library System. Fall meal service will begin on August 22 2022. Supper will be served Monday-Friday at 11 library branches. Saturday lunch will be served at 10 branches. There is no cost. Meals will be served in grab & go style, on-site consumption of meals is not required. Parents will also be able to pick up meals for their kids. No ID or registration required.
