Make Your Mark on Main!

The work at Main is making steady progress. We blazed through the demo and are working on putting our flagship location back together. We have several thoughtful design elements that we are excited about, including the large “LIBRARY” at the top of the building that will be viewable from street level as well as from the rooftop space that will be added.

Another fun element transforms the first-floor ceiling into a vibrant display of words in the children’s and public areas. You can see in the renderings above how we envision that will look throughout the space. Here’s where you come in – we need help deciding what those words will say. There are a total of 11 spaces that will need quotes. You can see the “map” of where the pages will go and how much space each will take up.

We’re looking for suggestions under 200 words, with some spaces perfect for 30–40-word selections. We’re looking for inspiring quotations, passages, and excerpts from books and poems. The sky is the limit, but we think quotes that relate to libraries, reading, free expression, Little Rock, Arkansas, or any beautiful words that spark discovery, learning, and cultural expression would be perfectly at home here.

Submissions can be contemporary or from the public domain, and we’d love to highlight famous Arkansas authors. Join us in creating a unique and inspiring piece of the Main Library! Submissions will be open until August 31.
