So much progress has been made at Williams Library recently! So much so that it’s almost time to reopen. Check out the progress photos below. The bright orange crosswalk has been painted and leads from Dunbar Middle School to the new entrance. Bright colors are splashed across the walls, creating a fun and inviting space.

October 7, 2025 – Main Library Grand Reopening

What an incredible weekend at the Central Arkansas Library System! On Saturday, October 4, we officially and ceremoniously reopened the doors to our newly reimagined Main Library. It was a celebration unlike any we have had at CALS.

Hillary Clinton visited the library named for her as part of the 10 year celebrations

The Hillary Rodham Clinton Children’s Library & Learning Center (CLLC) has been celebrating the 10th anniversary of the library through a series of ten events! The celebrations began on March 16, the date the library officially opened in 2013, with the Birthday Kickoff extravaganza with drumming instructor, Stephin Booth. On March 25, there was a “Trip to the Theater,” featuring a concert with kids comedy band mömandpöp in the Linda Bly Theater.

Millie Brooks receives national grant for small and rural libraries

Millie M. Brooks MicroLibrary, one of the branches of the Central Arkansas Library System (CALS), has been selected as one of 100 libraries to participate in round three of Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries, an American Library Association (ALA) initiative that helps library workers better serve their small and rural communities.
