As an affiliate of Candid.org in New York, CALS provides access to a powerful database of hundreds of thousands of grantmakers and grant recipients. Find the information your nonprofit organization needs to make an impact. Candid data is compiled from IRS forms 990 and 990-PF, grantmaker web sites, the philanthropic press and other sources. Candid’s staff continually monitors and verifies details in the Foundation Directory database.

NOTE: foundations generally give to nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status. If you don’t have this status, consider finding a local nonprofit who is willing to act as your Fiscal Sponsor. Learn more here https://help.candid.org/s/ .

ALSO: search the Foundation Directory database for over ten thousand sources of funding for students, artists, researchers, and other individuals. Find your next scholarship, fellowship or grant.

TIPS: use the Find Funding search bar to enter free text that will be analyzed by an intelligent algorithm to return relevant database entries; or, fill in the fields within the Advanced Search & Filters and Additional Filters; or, use the Organization and Who’s Who links if you know a specific name.

As an affiliate of Candid.org in New York, CALS provides access to GuideStar, a searchable directory that provides detailed information on more than 850,000 nonprofit organizations. The database covers IRS-registered 501 nonprofit organizations that may accept tax-deductible contributions. Profiles cover mission and programs, financials, leaders, and most importantly, full text via PDF of the charity’s IRS 990 filing from 1998 forward in most cases. Form 990 provides information on revenues, expenses, programs, activities, executive salaries and board members.
