Full-Time Positions

FACILITIES ELECTRICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time facilities electrician to install and maintain the wiring and control equipment through which electricity flows for all public library facilities. High school diploma or equivalent, valid AR driver’s license, and current electrician license required. Other requirements include must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time and have basic computer skills. Candidate must also be able to work in team-oriented, task-sharing environment. Other duties as assigned. Salary range starts at $17.29/hr. with excellent benefits. ADULT PROGRAMMER – Seeking a fun, energetic, team-orientated diverse applicant qualified to work as a full-time adult programmer at the Fletcher Library. Candidate should have a strong commitment to public service to create and implement adult programs. Responsibilities include planning in-branch and outreach programs for adults, creating displays, designing printed and digital materials and promotions, working public service desk, answering patron questions, information searching and shelving. Excellent communication, technology and customer service skills are required. Must be able to work well with adults, and cooperatively with staff and public. In addition, candidate must be willing to become a notary, with CALS paying all expenses. Experience with adult programming desirable. Familiarity with adult literature and popular media desirable. Part-Time Positions

LIBRARY CLERK – Part-time 20 hours/week public service position at the Terry Library. Seeking energetic, customer service-oriented applicant with exceptional sorting ability, great attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. Essential duties include shelving items, shelf reading, emptying book bins, working circulation desk, and answering patron questions. Must be able to stand long periods of time, push and pull at least 50 lbs., lift, squat and work every other Saturday from 9am-6pm. Pay is $11.20 per hour. Temporary, Seasonal, & Contract Positions

Central Arkansas Library System is seeking 4 Summer Associates to work with CALS under the AmeriCorps VISTA program. The summer associates will serve USDA meals through the Summer Food Service Program, prepare grab-and-go activity kits to distribute along with summer meals, create content for virtual and/or outdoor nutrition education programs using commit to health, and promote and distribute Food Security Screenings. Summer associates will provide patrons with information regarding SNAP eligibility and the application process. Candidates must be 18 years old or older, willing to work at either of the 4 CALS locations listed below, complete a background check, and be able to start by June 1, 2021.
