Full-Time Positions

BRANCH MANAGER – Hillary Rodham Clinton Children’s Library and Learning Center – The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) is seeking a full-time, team-oriented, experienced librarian to lead our Children’s Library and Learning Center. The facility and extensive grounds include a teaching kitchen, greenhouse, garden and urban farming space, recording studio, and other spaces for creativity and hands-on learning—as well as the traditional library spaces. This library serves a diverse population from across Little Rock. Candidates must possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm for working with people of all ages and backgrounds. Responsibilities include administering day-to-day library operations; training, supervising, and evaluating staff; overseeing and coordinating programming; and proactive outreach to the community. An ALA-accredited MLS or comparable degree, or significant work towards such a degree, is required. Candidate must have at least 3 years library supervisory experience. Schedule may include some nights and weekends. Starting pay range is $50,336 and includes excellent benefits such as medical, dental, vision, company paid pension and life insurance. Part-Time Positions

HOUSEKEEPING TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System seeks a part-time 20 hour per week housekeeping technician to perform upkeep and cleaning at the Milam Library in Perryville. Responsibilities includes cleaning of restrooms, floors, glass, furniture, emptying trash cans, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, and other duties as assigned. Some experience required, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Starting salary $11.20/hour plus benefits such as holiday pay and paid time off. MATH TUTOR – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a part-time math tutor for our grant funded Count Up tutoring project. The program is expected to be funded through December 2021 and will assist students in grades K-12 with in-person and virtual math tutoring. In addition to tutoring students, math tutors will assist with training volunteer tutors with the potential for some additional hours for administrative support for qualified candidates. Interested candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, STEM fields, or education and possess strong math skills in multiple math subjects, excellent verbal communication skills, good time management, and excellent computer skills. The schedule will be flexible and based on the needs of students in the program, primarily during afternoons and weekends. Pay range starts at $14.05 per hour and includes holiday pay. LIBRARY CLERK – Part-time 20 hours/week public service position at the Rooker Library. Seeking energetic, customer service-oriented applicant with exceptional sorting ability, great attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. Essential duties include shelving items, shelf reading, emptying book bins, working circulation desk, and answering patron questions. Must be able to stand long periods of time, push and pull at least 50 lbs., lift, squat and be able to work flexible hours Monday-Saturday. Pay is $11.20 per hour. LIBRARY ASSISTANT FLOATER – Part-time (20 hours/week) public service position. Essential duties and responsibilities include assisting patrons on the circulation desk, at self-service kiosks, and throughout the library space as needed, as well as all day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. This position requires the willingness to assist with crowd control during after-school hours, to enforce rules of conduct, and to assist in any other way needed to help library staff maintain order during crowded and busy times. Other duties include shelving library materials, checking materials in and out, answering patron questions, registering patrons for library cards, information searching, and basic computer troubleshooting. Applicants must be available to work some evenings and most Fridays and Saturdays, as well as have reliable transportation. This employee will be assigned to work at different locations on a weekly basis as a substitute wherever assigned throughout the service area. Each week’s location assignments will be different. Temporary, Seasonal, & Contract Positions

USDA MEAL SPECIALIST VISTA MEMBER – fulltime/30 hrs per week at Children’s Library. Seeking a service-oriented individual with strong writing and communication skills to coordinate marketing and outreach for Be Mighty Little Rock. Utilizing these skills this member will help expand USDA meal service in high need areas. Major functions will include designing flyers and generating content for bemightylittlerock.org and social media. This VISTA member will assist with outreach at community events by creating engaging ways to promote USDA meal programs in Little Rock. Additionally, this VISTA member will recruit and train meal site volunteers. Applicants should hold a four-year degree in business, math, computer science, nutrition, English, journalism, communications, marketing, or similar. The applicant should be self-motivated, possess strong writing skills, and enjoy public speaking. The applicant should have experience with MS Office Suite, project planning, and volunteer recruitment. VISTA members receive a $12,490 living allowance and have the option between receiving a $6,195 education award or $1,800 end of service stipend.
