I design and teach course work that uses a variety of contexts. These include audio, images, and videos to match the right digital technology to a specific patron’s needs. I communicate this by locating, analyzing, and using reliable sources of information online through virtual or hybrid classes.

Nathan’s vision for his team and what he wants to accomplish sold me. I also feel like my purpose is good work. Good work connects your values and your actions. It satisfies a craving to express your purpose, and to do that in ways that align intention and impact.

The Digital Literacy Guide position was created towards the end of 2021 with funds received from a grant provided by the Windgate Foundation. CALS wanted to focus in on providing some one-on-one assistance for people dealing with technology-related barriers,
Are you interested in learning new software packages to build your career skills? Maybe you want to master video editing or ask questions about the website you’re creating.
Our digital skills classes are now available virtually in live, interactive sessions where you can chat with our expert instructor. We even have virtual open labs that allow you to bring in your own tech questions or learning projects.
The month of May offers an exciting set of classes with live, online instruction from one of our digital skills experts, Nathan Smith.
Whether you want to edit videos, build a website with WordPress, or design marketing materials with Canva, Nathan has lots of experience teaching these skill sets. He will work with you through the Zoom platform,
Nathan Smith has a Lord of the Rings keepsake on his desk with a picture of Gandalf. That’s fitting, because as CALS Digital Literacy Specialist, Nathan works his own brand of wizardry to teach a variety of software programs to CALS patrons, all offered free of charge.
The first thing you notice about Nathan’s classes is that he is an excellent teacher.
