Marita Golden is the award-winning author of 20 works of fiction and nonfiction. She is president emerita and co-founder of the Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright Foundation and has taught creative writing at Johns Hopkins University and Virginia Commonwealth University. She has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and was featured in a Jeopardy! question.
