Ben McGrath Riverman
About the author:
Ben McGrath is a longtime staff writer for the New Yorker. His work has been featured in The Best American Sports Writing, Best American Science and Nature Writing, and The Best of Technology Writing, among other anthologies. He lives with his wife and two children outside New York City in a small town on the Hudson. Riverman is his first book.
About the book:
Ben McGrath’s first book, Riverman, tells the story of Dick Conant, a modern-day American folk hero who, over the course of more than twenty years, canoed solo along thousands of miles of the country’s rivers. It paints a vital portrait of an America we rarely see: small river towns, long-forgotten waterways, and a remarkable life lived far outside the staid confines of modern existence.
