CALS – Off the Shelf – December 2025
Off the Shelf features new releases in both physical and digital media, exhibitions, and highlights larger system-wide programs. We hope this publication serves our patrons by providing current news about our collection– the foundation of all great libraries. A full schedule of events can still be found at HERE.
Letters to Santa
Join us for a magical holiday experience at the library! From November 10th through December 19th, children of all ages are invited to write letters to Santa Claus. Share your heart’s desires, express your gratitude, or simply send a holiday greeting. Our friendly library elves will collect your letters, and Santa himself will write back to each child with a personalized response by Christmas Day.
Food for Fines 2025
Food for Fines is back! This year, Food for Fines will take place December 1 – 19. During that time, patrons are invited to bring non-perishable food and personal hygiene products to a CALS library to offset overdue fines on their accounts. Most donated items will be kept at CALS to stock the Little Free Pantries.

Be Mighty Food Resource Guide
The mission of the Central Arkansas Library System is to connect people, nurture potential, and grow community. One of our core values is to provide access to all.
This Food Resource Guide is a tool to connect people in our community, who are experiencing need, with food pantries and hot meals. We have made every effort to verify the information in the guide for accuracy. In addition to locations and hours of operation, you will see any special considerations or requirements to participate in the meal or pantry program at each location.
View Guide2nd & Cumberland Lawn Proposal
The green space at 2nd and Cumberland sits as an underutilized area of Downtown Little Rock. With a little bit of planning and investment, the space could be so much more.
With the approval of the City of Little Rock and ARDOT, CALS would like to lead efforts to install pollinator gardens, shade trees, walking paths, and community plazas for gatherings and events. Where possible, native Arkansas species would be planted that require minimal upkeep and serve as host plants for insects.
