CALS Announces New Hours for Multiple Locations

Beginning Sunday, January 5, 2020, Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) will have new hours of operation at several library branches. These changes align with the library system’s three-year strategic plan that was put into place earlier this year.

Libraries to Open Meeting Spaces to Students Affected by Strike

The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) will open meeting spaces at seven Little Rock area branch libraries early on Thursday, November 14, to accommodate students while the Little Rock Education Association (LREA) conducts a one-day strike.

In keeping with its tradition of anticipating and meeting community needs, CALS will open meeting spaces at seven branch locations in order for community volunteers to provide activities and meals for students affected by the strike.

Residents Honor 9/11 Day with American Tradition of Service

Dozens of Little Rock residents will join in patriotic acts of service to mark the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks during the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance. Volunteers will be doing beautification projects and visiting with veterans, joining hundreds of thousands of citizens across the country in this American tradition.

CALS Collecting Stories for Vietnam War Project

The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) is celebrating Tim O’Brien’s classic The Things They Carried, a collection of short stories centered on the Vietnam War, as part of the National Endowment for the Arts’ Big Read program and is seeking to record oral histories with Arkansas Vietnam War veterans for a project of the CALS Butler Center for Arkansas Studies.
