CALS and AARP Arkansas Collaborate on Fraud Series

Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) and the American Association of Retired People (AARP) Arkansas will collaborate on a four-part Fraud Watch Network Series for the public to highlight the tools fraud and scam artists use to deceive citizens.
The four-part series includes the following workshops:

  1. The Con Artists’ Playbook: Tactics Used to Scam – discussing common strategies scammers use and gives individuals tools to defend themselves against scamming tricks. (August 4)

 

  1. Cyber Security: Safe Surfing – discussing how to surf the internet safely and other ways to protect oneself from cyber fraud. (September 1)

 

  1. Identify Theft: Making Sure that I Stays Me – discussing tools to prevent identity theft. (October 6)

 

  1. From Romance to Sweepstakes: Scams of Many Stripes – discussing various scams and how to avoid becoming a victim. (November 3)

The Fraud Watch Network Series will be held at the Main Library Harper Lee room, 100 Rock Street, 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. It begins Saturday, August 4, and continues the first Saturday of each month September through November. This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required. AARP membership is not required to participate.
