CALS Used Book Sale Returns at New Location

Little Rock, AR – The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) has announced the details for the spring CALS Used Book Sale. The Used Book Sale will take place March 7-9 at the Port Industrial Hub, 7773 Sloane Dr., where CALS administration offices are located. Used books will be priced $1 for paperbacks and $2 for hardbacks.

Used Book Sale hours are from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9.  “Preview” hours are Thursday, March 7 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and open only to 2023 and lifetime members of Friends of CALS. Library donors who have donated $25 or more to the CALS Foundation or Friends of CALS in the last year are also invited to the “Preview.”

“Proceeds from the CALS Used Book Sale support beloved and critical library programs such as Summer@CALS, Be Mighty, the library’s volunteer program, and our Six Bridges Book Festival,” said Eliza Borné, CALS’s Director of Development. “The sale also funds programming grants to every neighborhood branch in our system. We are grateful to all our loyal shoppers who fund more than $50,000 in library programs every year, and we are grateful to everyone who donates the books that stock our sales floor. This year, we encourage you to donate books generously and often. If our stock can sustain it, we would love to start holding more frequent sales.”

The next CALS Used Book Sale will take place July 11-13 and will follow the same format as the spring sale. During the summer sale, educators (with a valid ID) will receive an additional 25% off these reduced prices.

Revenue generated will support the Six Bridges Book Festival, book club kits, Arkansas Sounds concerts, branch programs, Summer@CALS, youth programs, and various library activities.
