Suminagashi Workshop

Suminagashi, often translated to "floating ink", is an ancient Japanese paper marbling technique. Ink is carefully set upon the water in concentric rings. A slight flow of air or a tiny undulation in the water surface creates ripples or whorls in the ink pattern. Placing a piece of paper on the surface transfers the ink to the paper, revealing a unique and beautiful design.
This is an in-person event which will take place on the 5th floor of the Main Library. There will be enough supplies and time for participants to create multiple prints. Space is limited. Registration is required. Email cedwards@cals.org to register.
