Magazines on Libby

By now, you’re probably familiar with using Libby for reading eBooks and downloading audio books, but have you explored the magazine offerings? They’ve made it even easier to access your favorites. Browse from nearly 5,000 titles (including multiple month’s worth of copies), including The New Yorker, Us Weekly, Vogue, National Geographic, Rolling Stone, and HGTV Magazine. Check out the following tips for reading magazines on Libby:

  1. Search “Magazines”
  2. Click on the title and month you want to read, followed by “borrow”
  3. You will be asked if you would like to add a smart tag and be notified when new issues are available.
  4. Access all magazine titles you have borrowed will appear on your Shelf called the Magazine Rack.
  • One tap to read: When you discover a magazine in the collection, you can open it and start reading with one tap.
  • Streamlined access: Instead of appearing alongside ebook and audiobook loans, magazines now appear on a new dedicated section of your Shelf called the Magazine Rack. From the Magazine Rack, you can access the latest issue of your magazine subscriptions and any other issues you choose to keep. This helps you find your favorite magazines in one convenient place.
    Note: To save space on your device, magazines are not automatically downloaded for offline use. Instead, you can manually choose which issues to download.
  • Improved discovery: From their Magazine Rack, you can navigate to CALS Newsstand, a new view of a user’s recently opened issues and other popular magazine titles in the collection.
  • Easier subscriptions: Users can subscribe to magazines from your library via a new, convenient Subscribe button that appears in search results, on magazine details screens, and in the Newsstand. When a new issue is released:
    • The issue is automatically added to the user’s Magazine Rack.
    • You will receive a notification based on their Libby notification preferences (in-app, push, or email).
