HOUSEKEEPING TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System seeks a full-time 40 hour per week Housekeeping Technician to perform upkeep and cleaning at CALS facilities. Essential duties include cleaning restrooms, floors, glass, furniture, emptying trash cans, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, and other duties as assigned. Some experience required, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have a positive attitude. Must have and maintain a valid AR driver’s license. Interested applicants must be able to work Monday – Friday 5am-1pm and some weekend hours required. Must be available to work some Saturday from 7:00am-3:00pm. ADULT PROGRAMMER — The Central Arkansas Library System is in search of an outgoing, public service oriented professional to lead and coordinate activities for a diverse adult audience at the Main Library in Patron Services. This Adult Programmer position is a 40-hour per week full-time public service position with responsibilities including planning and actively carrying out a variety of activities for adults both inside the library and out in the community, designing printed and digital materials and promotions, using different social media platforms, collaborating with other library staff, and developing partnerships with other community organizations. This position also has public service duties, which include working the front desk, answering patron questions, information searching, technology assistance, and workroom tasks. A willingness to enforce the rules of conduct and excellent communication, technology and customer service skills are required. Schedule includes regular Saturday shifts and occasional afterhours work. LIBRARY SAFETY OFFICER – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time (40 hrs. per week) library safety officer at the Main Library. The work schedule will be: Monday-Friday 9:00am – 6:00pm or Tuesday-Saturday 9:00am – 6:00pm. The candidate should be outgoing, friendly, team-orientated, enjoy working with all ages and have a customer service-oriented approach to public safety while working in a diverse and inclusive environment. Daily duties include interacting with after-school crowds and enforcing the rules of conduct. Experience working with youth a plus. Essential duties include working closely with branch staff to solve challenges throughout the day and help diffuse various situations in a positive, courteous, and professional manner. Additional responsibilities include assisting patrons with information and assisting staff with public safety concerns. Must be able to stand, walk for extended periods of time, work indoors and outdoors. Some computer experience is required and must have reliable transportation. Spanish language skills a plus but not required. TEEN PROGRAMMER – Full-time (40 hour/week) Youth Services is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Teen Programmer to lead and coordinate activities for teens, both in the library and out in the community. Responsibilities include planning, promoting, and implementing engaging, age-appropriate activities for teens. The ideal candidate should be outgoing, creative and love working with kids of all ages. This job also involves introducing and suggesting books and authors that promote a love of reading, as well as assisting with day-to-day tasks performed by library staff, including the willingness to enforce rules of conduct. Must be comfortable working with the public, children and teens, and providing friendly and professional assistance to a diverse community. The schedule includes working every other Saturday. SKILLED RENOVATION TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full time (40 hours/week) skilled renovation technician with painting/carpentry/drywall skills, capable of performing small remodel jobs, to maintain/repair 19 public library facilities. High school diploma or equivalent, valid AR driver’s license with clean driving record, 5 years construction experience, and knowledge of a specialized field or combination of equivalent education and experience. Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 70 lbs., push, pull, and squat. Basic computer skills, detail oriented, and the ability to work in a team-oriented, task sharing environment is essential. Other duties as assigned. Part-Time Positions
AFTER-SCHOOL LIBRARY CLERK – Part-time (15 hours/week) public service position at the Amy Sanders Library (10200 Johnson DR, Sherwood, AR 72120). Essential duties include: supporting library staff by enforcing rules of conduct and expectations with after-school crowds, assisting with Be Mighty meal service, and assisting library visitors with general inquiries. Must be able to stand for long periods, push and pull at least 50 lbs., lift, and squat. Scheduled hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 10am-1pm during the summer and 3pm-6pm during the regular school year. Salary range starts at $15.00 per hour and benefits include holiday pay, and eligibility to participate in the CALS 457 retirement plan. To apply, please complete the online application.
