Full-Time Positions

DIGITAL RESOURCES PROGRAMMER – Full-time (40 hours/week) public service position in the Information Services Department at the Main Library of the Central Arkansas Library System. Essential duties include designing, planning, and implementing programs and outreach services for adults focused on research databases, eBook and audio book services (Libby, Hoopla, etc.), and other digital services available through CALS. Additional duties include conducting tours and staffing public service desks including the computer lab, research desk, and our system-wide telephone and chat service. Must have exceptional technology skills and knowledge of a wide variety of software and digital devices. Candidate must be able to provide instructional assistance in person and remotely. Candidate must possess strong customer-service, problem-solving, and communication skills. An ideal candidate will be flexible, possess an easy-going attitude, and have an enthusiasm for working with diverse patrons and staff. Must be able to stand long periods of time, push and pull at least 50 lbs., lift, squat, and work some nights and weekends. Occasional travel to other branches and locations within the service area will be required. Salary range starts at $16.47 and includes excellent benefits, such as medical, dental, vision, company paid pension, life insurance, paid time off, and holiday pay. YOUTH PROGRAMMER – The Central Arkansas Library System is in search of a full-time (40 hrs/week) outstanding, outgoing individual to lead and coordinate children and youth activities at the Rooker Library (11 Otter Creek Ct., Little Rock, AR 72210). The Youth Programmer is a public service position with responsibilities to include planning and actively carrying out a variety of activities for children and families both inside the library and out in the community. Activities include storytime, crafting, afterschool events, and other creative endeavors. This job also involves introducing and suggesting books and authors that promote early literacy to families, as well as working with the Be Mighty food distribution program and assisting with day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. Assistance with front desk duties, excellent customer service skills, and technology assistance, along with working some evenings and Saturdays, is required. TEEN & ADULT PROGRAMMER – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time (40 hrs. per week) Teen & Adult Programmer to work weekday hours, with some evenings and Saturdays at the Williams Library (1800 Chester St., Little Rock, AR, 72206). The candidate should be energetic, flexible, and team-oriented with a strong commitment to public service to create and implement programs for teens and adults, while working in a diverse and inclusive environment. Responsibilities include planning in-branch and outreach programs for teens and adults, creating displays, designing printed and digital materials and promotions, working public service desk, answering patron questions, information searching, shelving and assisting with after school crowd control. Excellent communication, technology and customer service skills are required. Must be able to work well with all age groups, and cooperatively with staff and public.
