Full-Time Positions
LIBRARY ASSISTANT – Full-time public service position, 40 hours per week at Terry Library (2015 Napa Valley Dr, Little Rock, AR 72212). Candidates should be enthusiastic, teamoriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced public service position. Essential duties and responsibilities include assisting patrons on the circulation desk, at self-service kiosks, and throughout the library space as needed, as well as all day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. This position requires experience with technology, the willingness to enforce rules of conduct, excellent communication, customer service, and attention to detail. Other duties include shelving library materials as well as checking materials in and out, answering patron questions, registering patrons for library cards, information searching, and basic computer troubleshooting. Applicants must be available to work Mondays until 8pm and every other Saturday from 9am-6pm. HOUSEKEEPING TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System seeks a full-time 40-hour per week Housekeeping Technician to perform upkeep and cleaning at CALS facilities. Essential duties include cleaning restrooms, floors, glass, furniture, emptying trash cans, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, and other duties as assigned. Some experience required, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have a positive attitude. Must have and maintain a valid AR driver’s license. Interested applicants must be able to work Monday – Friday 5am-1pm and some weekend hours required. Must be available to work some Saturday from 7:00am-3:00pm. LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) is seeking a full-time, 40-hour-per-week Landscape Technician to perform routine landscape maintenance at CALS facilities. Duties include watering, fertilizing, weeding, pruning, planting, mulching, and other tasks as assigned to maintain healthy and attractive grounds. Position also involves operating walk-behind and riding mowers, and occasionally tractors or other equipment. Seasonal duties include keeping walkways free of snow and ice. Applicants must be dependable, adaptable to changing priorities, able to stand or kneel for long periods, and thrive in outdoor work. Must have and maintain a valid Arkansas driver’s license and keep CALS vehicles and work areas clean and organized. Work schedule: 5:00 am-2:00 pm Monday – Thursday and 6:00-10:00 am on Friday, with occasional weekend hours as needed. BILINGUAL LIBRARY SPECIALIST – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time, 40-hourweek Library Assistant interested in serving a diverse community at the Dee Brown Library (6325 Baseline Rd, Little Rock, AR 72209). Candidate should be energetic, customer service oriented, fluent in Spanish, able to translate documents from English to Spanish and assist at Latinx community events. Essential duties include working the public service desk, answering patron questions, managing the branch holds, and performing a variety of day-to-day tasks. Familiarity with technology, digital media, ability to do instructional assistance on devices, and excellent communication and customer service skills are required. Applicants must be willing to become a Notary Public and be available to work some evenings and every other Saturday. SKILLED RENOVATION TECHNICIAN – Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full time (40 hours/week) skilled renovation technician with painting/carpentry/drywall skills, capable of performing small remodel jobs, to maintain/repair 19 public library facilities. High school diploma or equivalent, valid AR driver’s license with clean driving record, 5 years construction experience, and knowledge of a specialized field or combination of equivalent education and experience. Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 70 lbs., push, pull, and squat. Basic computer skills, detail oriented, and the ability to work in a team-oriented, task sharing environment is essential. Other duties as assigned.
