Teen After School Program: Resin Crafts

Explore the world of resin art! Embed botanicals, glitter, pigment powder, quotes, or whatever you want in epoxy resin to create your own bookmark, keychain, or jewelry.  The UV resin we’ll use cures within minutes when exposed to Ultraviolet Light, so you will be able to take home your projects that day.  They make great gifts for the holidays.

Masks and gloves will be required due to fumes from the resin.

Teen Homeschool Program: Candle Making

Turn an old jar into a beautiful scented candle.  You will melt down wax and design its color and smell by adding pigments and fragrance oils before pouring the wax into a jar and adding a wick. You can even decorate the jar with a frost effect paint, ribbon, or twine.

Cooking Up History: Holiday Edition

Learn about the origins of many of Arkansas’s holiday traditions and bake a historic holiday cookie recipe from the Butler Center’s collection with Danielle and Brittany, followed by a holiday story time.

Danielle Afsordeh is Community Outreach Archivist at the CALS Roberts Library/Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, and Brittany Garner is Adult Programmer at CALS Thompson Library.

Winter Party! Story-Time & Crafts

Celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with the Thompson Library!

We’ll be making holiday crafts from 2:30 to 4:30pm, with a story-time in-between at 3:30pm! Recommended for ages 3-11.

And don’t forget to stop by the Thompson Program Room for Cooking Up History: Holiday Edition, where you can learn about Arkansas holiday traditions and bake some cookies!

Wrapping Station

Calling all Secret Santas! Stop by the Thompson library on Tuesday, December 12th anywhere from 4-7:30 PM for all the materials one might need to truly deck the halls with holiday gifts!

Materials provided include: gift bags, assorted wrapping paper, gift tags, wax seals, gift card envelopes, twine, ribbon, and bows!

This is a relaxed program for TEENS and ADULTS.

Meet a local artist as they demonstrate one of the new craft kits in the Tool Library collection and answer question you many have about their creative process. You can then get hands on experience with the corresponding workshop and make your own creation! This kit will have all the tools a beginer would need to get started with crocheting or knitting.
