Limbs & Mascaron

Two ceramic artists, one gallery!
Limbs by Chris Swasta of Rolling Hills Pottery and Mascaron by Jennifer Perren

February 12–May 29, 2021

CALS Galleries at Library Square, Loft Gallery

This dual exhibition showcases vibrant ceramic artworks by two local artists and educators. Chris Swasta will display his expansive ceramic coral reef installation, titled Limbs. Two years in the making, the reef is made of more than 6,000 hand-rolled coils of clay. Jennifer Perren’s collection of functional and figurative works—titled Mascaron, which means an architectural ornament representing a face or head—invokes the concept of the protective properties of gargoyles.

The exhibition is on view to the public in the Galleries at Library Square from Friday, February 12, to Saturday, May 1. While we will not gather in person this time for an opening on Second Friday Art Night, a short video tour of the exhibition will be available on the Second Friday Art Night website and the CALS Roberts Library Facebook page. Take a look at the video for a sneak peek, and then come in to check it out yourself in a socially distanced way! Check the CALS Roberts Library website here: https://robertslibrary.org/visit/location-hours/ for gallery hours and visiting procedures.

The Galleries at Library Square are located in the CALS Roberts Library at CALS Library Square in the River Market District of downtown Little Rock.
