As a nonprofit interested in books and library programming, Friends of Central Arkansas Libraries’ (FOCAL) mission is to support the many programs offered system-wide at the Central Arkansas Library System (CALS). Hundreds of FOCAL volunteers a year raise money through basement book sales at Main Library, River Market Books & Gifts (RMBG), and membership development. FOCAL provides approximately $50,000 a year to library programs.
FOCAL sponsors Summer Reading Club, Book Club Kits, the Arkansas Literary Festival, Arkansas Sounds Concert Series, Read To Me (books for newborns and toddlers), Staff Scholarships, Volunteer Appreciation Events, and many other programs at CALS’s fourteen branches.
FOCAL also donates thousands of books a year locally, nationally, and internationally to various individuals, organizations, and institutions.
Honor or memorial gifts are an everlasting way to pay tribute to someone who has touched your life. Give a donation in someone’s name to mark a special occasion, honor a friend or colleague or remember a beloved family member. When a tribute gift is given the honoree will receive a letter acknowledging your generosity and a bookplate will be placed in a book.
