Ozark Impressions Jewelry
by Deitra Biely
A Northwest Arkansas native, I currently reside in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains of northeastern Oklahoma. I teach full time and live on Grand Lake with my husband, stepson, and three furry friends.
Several years ago, I found a way to merge my passions for nature, adventure, art, and education in metalsmithing. A nature lover at heart, I’m often burying my nose in a gravel bar along a creek searching for interesting fossil prints, scanning the foliage along an Ozark Mountain trail, or lighting up the walls of a cave studying the vast array of geological layers and creatures captured in time within them.
I utilize these Ozark fossils, wildflowers, and a variety of other interesting flora to create my one-of-a-kind jewelry. My appreciation for the details of nature is evidenced in focal pieces for pendants, earrings, bracelets, and rings. Stones and crystals are often incorporated to add a balance of both color and dimension. Having begun with silver as my medium of choice, I also work with bronze and copper, providing a range of colors and accessibility for everyone.
