Katie Harris-Beers graduated from Lyon College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in art and English, and from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Bowen School of Law in 2012.
During school, she gravitated toward painting and mixed media art, but after the birth of her first son, she began wire-wrapping crystals. Soon after, she learned of the magical process called electroforming. She uses electricity and an acid bath to reverse copper off a copper pipe and onto her created piece. Most of her work involves crystals—as she’s very much obsessed with pretty, shiny objects—and the use of copper; there are, however, silver and resin pieces (making Arkansas wildflower cabochons is also an obsession) in the mix. The designs are meant to showcase the stone, and the hope is that every piece shows how much she loves this art form.
