Trash to Treasure: Felt offcuts from manufacturer – 100% wool; recycled soda bottles

I love jewelry, and I like to use recycled materials, from fabrics to plastics and various metals. Jewelry is in the eye of the beholder; it does not always have to be diamonds and gold. When I have access to a jewelry studio and a kiln, I work in metals, mostly enamels, but COVID-19 has kept me at home this year working with felt scraps.

Why did I start working with plastic bottles? As a former runner and now walker, I had time to notice all the trash in my neighborhood. I started picking up plastic bottles and before I knew it had so many that I decided I needed to do something with them. So I started my Trash to Treasure jewelry line.

Creating jewelry has always been helpful in my job as an interior designer. One of my first design jobs was a retail store called Design Center, which eventually led to a full-time job as licensed interior designer.
