CALS and the Ottenheimer Library at UA Little Rock are hosting a FREE series of virtual screenings centered around Tim O’Brien’s classic The Things They Carried, a 2020-2021 NEA Big Read Book.
Join us for The Deer Hunter (1978, R) on Sunday, November 22. In 1968, Michael (played by Robert De Niro), Nick (played by Christopher Walken) and Steven (played by John Savage), lifelong friends from a working-class Pennsylvania steel town, prepare to ship out overseas following Steven’s elaborate wedding and one final group hunting trip. In Vietnam, their dreams of military honor are quickly shattered by the inhumanities of war; even those who survive are haunted by the experience, as is Nick’s hometown sweetheart, Linda (played by Meryl Streep).
While free to attend, registration is required to access this screening. Select the orange “Get Tickets” button on this page to register.
