From the White River Monster to the Horrible Green Gowrow to all the Bigfoots and unidentified oddities reported from the Ozarks to the Delta, Professor Spitzer will address the unresolved details of various historical narratives, read from his cult-classic investigative study Crypto-Arkansas (Spuyten Duyvil, 2013), respond to questions and comments, and reveal what’s really lurking out there. This event is free and open to the public and appropriate for all ages. Wampus cats and hoop snakes welcome.

About the Author

Mark Spitzer is the author of 30 books, most of them about monstrous or freaky fish; his most recent being In Search of Monster Fish: Angling for a More Sustainable Planet (University of Nebraska Press, 2019). Spitzer is also known for his socio-historical research of cryptozoological phenomena entitled Crypto-Arkansas (Spuyten Duyvil, 2013). He is a professor of creative writing at the University of Central Arkansas who has appeared on the Animal Planet series River Monsters. More info at www.sptzr.net.
