Arkansas Sounds Presents: a Johnnie Taylor tribute

Join us every Thursday for Arkansas Sounds Presents, a free online watch party of Arkansas music and culture.

On Thursday, May 6 at 7 p.m. CST, CALS Arkansas Sounds presents a tribute to legendary Arkansas rhythm & blues icon, Johnnie Taylor! Known as “The Philosopher of Soul,” Johnnie Taylor was a singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1950s when he replaced Sam Cooke in the Soul Stirrers. When Taylor joined Stax Records in 1966, his career began to blossom and he became an R&B superstar with dozens of hits to his credit until his death in 2000. Our playlist celebrates the May 5th birthday of this Crawfordsville, Arkansas native with rare performances and interviews.

FREE to watch! You can join us from anywhere in the world as this is a virtual event: https://app.kosmi.io/room/nhog0f
