Celebrate and remember Arkansan Levon Helm on his 80th birthday week with a screening of the documentary Ain’t in it For My Health!
Mark Lavon “Levon” Helm was born in Phillips County, Arkansas, and achieved fame as the drummer and one of the vocalists for The Band. Helm was known for his deeply soulful, country-accented voice, multi-instrumental ability, and creative drumming style. Levon’s iconic voice was highlighted on many of The Band’s most famous recordings, such as The Weight, Up on Cripple Creek, and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.
Director Jacob Hatley’s intimate documentary finds Levon Helm at home in Woodstock, NY, in the midst of creating his first studio album in 25 years. Shot during the course of two-plus years, this highly anticipated film focuses in on the four-time Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member after his 2007 comeback album, Dirt Farmer, brought him back to the spotlight.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Film starts at 7:00 p.m. Beer, wine, and concessions will be available.
