Full time employees of CALS work 40 hours per week, but institutional demands may sometimes require increased work hours. Because overtime accumulations can have adverse system-wide budget consequences, overtime work shall be scheduled only in rare circumstances, and managers shall monitor staff work hours to ensure that employees do not work excessive overtime.
Non-Exempt employees who work more than 40 hours per week shall receive overtime pay at a rate of one and one-half hours for each hour worked in excess of 40 hours per week.
Exempt employees who work more than 40 hours per week are not eligible for overtime pay.
Prior board policy allowed employees to accrue compensatory time for hours worked over 40 hours per week. Employees with balances of compensatory time on 12/31/18 will be allowed to expend those hours over the course of one year, with any remaining compensatory time in those exempt employee’s balances expiring on 12/31/19.
