What Are You Reading? Gretchen Hall

Gretchen Hall is the CEO of the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau.

She has lived in Little Rock for almost 20 years.

In her spare time, she coaches her nephew’s 5th grade basketball team, and she enjoys attending theatre productions.

What are you reading at the moment?

I’m currently reading Rediscover the Saints by Matthew Kelly. I’ve enjoyed several of Matthew Kelly’s books—my church introduced me to his writing.

As a child, my favorite books were Barbara Park’s Junie B. Jones and Beverly Cleary’s Ramona series. Perhaps my all-time favorite book is Dr. Seuss: Oh, the Places You’ll Go! It makes a great graduation gift for teens on their journey to adulthood, and who doesn’t love a good Dr. Seuss rhyme!

What book or other media most contributed to your success today?

My favorite professional books are Patrick Lencioni’s Death by Meeting and The Five Dysfunctions of a Team. Both are short and super easy to read, but full of wise practical leadership tips.

What role has reading played in your life?

For me, reading plays a huge role in my continued quest to always learn more. I have multiple subscriptions to magazines related to my profession and am constantly reading articles to learn more about the industry, gather ideas for implementation in my organization or simply to keep up with current events.
