I’m Joe Hudak, and I’m one of CALS’ branch services coordinators. I like to read nonfiction, and I enjoy cooking and DIY projects. My staff pick is the tile cutter. It’s part of the tool library at our Dee Brown branch. An average person might re-tile a room once or twice in a decade. Why buy an expensive tool that you’ll rarely use when you can instead borrow it from the library?

I’m the Executive Director of Our House, a comprehensive program for homeless and near-homeless families and individuals. I am from central Arkansas and have lived in Little Rock for most of the last 16 years.

What are you reading at the moment?

I’m reading Surface Detail,

I’m an avid book downloader. Often my reading time is in the dark in bed with my iPad, so downloading a book from Overdrive or Libby, even at midnight, is very appealing to me. Most recently I’ve been reading The Farm by Joanne Ramos as well as a diet book called Dr.

“The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin is everything a great fantasy novel should be: It has masterful worldbuilding, it has a magic system, it has multiple storylines that hold a mirror up to the best and worst of humanity. The story and the storytelling, though, go above and beyond into brilliance.

I’m the weekend news anchor and a reporter for KATV Channel 7 in Little Rock. I moved to Arkansas in 2011, so I feel very at home in the Natural State.

What are you reading at the moment or what is next on your list?

This year, I started a book club with some friends.

I have been a real estate agent and investor for 42 years, and 39 of those have been in Little Rock.  I work for the Flake and Kelley Commercial real estate company as the CEO and co-owner. I love to cycle and do water sports like boating, fishing, wakeboarding, and golf.  In the winter, I enjoy duck hunting and hiking.
