INFORMATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT MANAGER – The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) in Little Rock, Arkansas, is redefining what it means to provide information to our community. If you are a motivated, visionary librarian, come lead this transition and manage our new Information Services Department, formerly the Reference Department. CALS is a growing urban library system with fourteen locations and over 200,000 cardholders. The Information Services Department Manager reports to the Head of the Main Library, and oversees the work of several divisions within the department, including Periodicals, Interlibrary Loan, Public Computer Lab, and Downloadable Library support. The successful candidate will be excited by the challenge of working in the changing environment of reference services, have a deep commitment to providing excellent service, the ability to offer strong leadership to a talented and diverse team, and be open to the possibilities that new technologies and methods can offer. Candidates must possess strong customer skills, strong problem-solving skills, an easy-going nature, and enthusiasm for working with diverse patrons and staff.
Required: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program. Preferred: 5 years experience in providing reference or public service to a diverse population with 3 years supervisory experience. Highly desirable: Flexibility, team orientation, an open and optimistic attitude, and a sense of humor. We offer the same. Salary negotiable from $42,000, based on experience, plus excellent benefits. LIBRARY ASSISTANT II CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMER – full-time public service position at Fletcher Library. Responsibilities include creating and implementing programs for children, doing community outreach, checking materials in and out, answering patron questions, registering patrons for library cards, some information searching and shelving. Familiarity with technology, digital media, ability to do instructional assistance on devices, and excellent communication and customer service skills are required. Familiarity with popular reading and entertainment materials desirable. Some evenings and Saturdays required. $23,400 plus excellent benefits. LIBRARY PAGE POSITIONS
Pages are part-time positions, sorting and shelving materials. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. Must be able to reach all shelving with aid of a kick stool. Must have some knowledge of computers. Evening and Saturday hours may be required for branch locations; Sunday hours may be required for Main and H.R.C.Children's Library. Contact individual location for specifics. $7.25/hr.
