Full-Time Positions

YOUTH PROGRAMMER  The Central Arkansas Library System is in search of a full-time (40 hrs/week) outstanding, outgoing individual to lead and coordinate children and youth activities at the Main Library in the Youth Services Department. The Youth Programmer is a public service position with responsibilities to include planning and actively carrying out a variety of activities for children and families both inside the library and out in the community. Activities include storytime, crafting, afterschool events, and other creative endeavors. This job also involves introducing and suggesting books and authors that promote early literacy to families, as well as working with the Be Mighty afterschool food distribution program and assisting with day-to-day tasks performed by library staff. Assistance with front desk duties, excellent customer service skills, and technology assistance, along with working every other Saturday on a rotating schedule, is required. IT SPECIALIST – The Central Arkansas Library system is seeking a full-time, 40 hours per week, IT Specialist. The IT Specialist is responsible for installation, preventative maintenance, and minor repair of all computers and their peripherals and miscellaneous office equipment throughout all of CALS branches. In addition, the position performs on-call computer help desk duties for Library staff and patrons involving computer hardware, applications, and office equipment. It requires the ability to access, input, and retrieve data from the computer; ability to perform light to medium work without assistance; and the ability to communicate effectively. Candidate must also have at least two years’ experience in computer or technology-related services, valid AR driver’s license, and ability to climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds. ELECTRONIC RESOURCES LIBRARIAN — The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time (40 hours/week) Electronic Resources Librarian in its Information Service Department. Reporting to the Information Services Department Manager, the Electronic Resources Librarian works collaboratively in a team environment to manage the library’s electronic resources. The librarian oversees selection and activation of resources, setting up vendors as access providers, and verifying and monitoring electronic content. The librarian plays a lead role in troubleshooting access. Additionally, the librarian manages bibliographic access to electronic resources, oversees trials of new resources, and works with digital literacy and communications staff to maximize patron usage of these resources. Master’s degree in library science, or equivalent library experience, required. Salary range starts at $21.23 with excellent benefits such as medical, dental, vision, company paid pension, life insurance, paid time off, and holiday pay. Part-Time Positions

AFTER-SCHOOL LIBRARY CLERK – Part-time 15 hours/week public service position at the Sanders Library (10200 Johnson Drive, Sherwood). Seeking energetic applicant with patience and excellent communication skills with people of all ages. The ability to sort, pay close attention to detail, and get along with others is essential. Daily duties include interacting with after-school crowds and enforcing the rules of conduct, directing people to services, sorting and shelving items, answering patron questions, and other duties as assigned. Must be available from 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and be able to stand for long periods, push and pull at least 50 lbs., lift, and squat. The pay is $15.00 per hour. Holiday pay and eligibility to participate in CALS 457 retirement plan are added benefits. Temporary / Seasonal Positions

THEATER CLERK – The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a theater clerk to work at the Ron Robinson Theater on Library Square.  The Theater clerk will work up to 20 hours per week as needed at various events at the theater.  Essential duties include working in the concession stand selling alcohol and other snacks, setting up and breaking down events, and providing excellent customer service.  Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, be able to stand for long periods and able to push, pull and lift at least 50lbs.  Work schedule mostly evenings and weekends, but can include some days.
